You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone. Agree?
    #25594797 -

Do you think this phrase applies to a lot of moments in your life?

I do, I find myself saying it quite often.

I think people who use drugs would be aware of this more than anybody else, I certainly owe it to drugs.

I remember I used to feel the effects of weed, I remember when codeine had an effect on me, I remember I used to get excited about the drugs that are now a daily routine, etc, so many things used to be better than they are now.

Oftentimes I find it applies to my activities too, for example sometimes when I'm with family, doing something boring, I spend the whole time detached from reality, thinking about what better things I could be doing.
However, I look back upon these moments and curse myself for failing to appreciate them at the time.

Let's have a poll!
I use, or ought to use, the phrase quite often, and I agree with it

First time i had a girlfriend and it didnt work out i found myself saying this a lot. Thank god i realized that she was fucked and moved on. Still though it made me appreciate more what i have when im in the moment and not always have counterproductive wants when the now is good.

Kinda the same thing, kind of not, but here’s one of my favorite serious moments from The Office:

Anyone who’s ever felt the cold bitter sting of loss knows it to be true.
Make sure your loved ones know it constantly beacuse you never know how long you have with them and regret never dies.

STAL - Invalid Poll.

However I chose 'Neither Agree nor Disagree', for this reason:

I have become, with practice, a lot better at knowing how good I have it, appreciating it, and showing gratitude for it, as the years have passed.

I used to be terrible in the way I took things for granted, but I've made a conscious effort to not to that, and it's paid off.

I think what you say is the natural state of the human condition, but it need not be that way with practice and determination.

--------------------
Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

I agree 100%.

The cold reality of having something then not having it is a sobering wake up call.

Count yer blessings and dont take them for granted. Cause when they are gone, they are gone  :nonono:
