what size are those plates like 90mm wide? Takes me about 50ml-60ml to fill 10x 30mm petris if I remember right.

I use 500 in mine as well. Putting the water from the PC at the level of the media in the jar will help prevent that issue of boil over altogether.

I fill it to 500 and tilt it to fit in my tiny ass PC... still no boil over issues :shrug:

Yep. Agar boils very aggressively. It's scsry the first time you see it. It's standard practice whenever preparing agar to fill its container no more than halfway.

It's a pain in the ass having to clean up overboiled agar. You first burn yourself trying to clean it up while liquid, then quickly give up on that idea and wait for it all to set, and scrub out your microwave. All while others are waiting for you to finish up (if in a lab) or your SO shouts at you for making a mess.

Just fill the PC ascot a1/3 up the bottle, and leave in the PC for an hour before messing with it... I do it everytime... no issues lol

In bods tek he uses unmodified lids of course. I think that’s the route I’m going to take. I’m sure it’s a trial and error thing, and dialing in the way you work. I don’t want to drill holes in these nice bottle caps for filters. I believe he says soon as the pressure reaches zero, to tighten the lid down. Which I’m assuming is going to still be hot as fuck. We use the same PC a presto 23 quart. Zero is reached when the pressure indicator pops back down. I know a lot of people use filters and modified lids. I’m going to try it this way before I go that route.

Lol! Thank you and noted. I was going to give Bods agar tek a shot and see where it takes me. I like the idea of not using whiskey bottles with modified lids and using true media bottles.
