First Time PE Grow * 1

So I just ordered some PE spores and I was wondering what the best way to grow them would be. WIll they work on a brf cake or do I need to do a bulk grow? If I need to do bulk could somebody possibly point me in which direction to go in order to learn how to do a bulk grow?

PE generally don't like Cakes but you can still get very good flushes with it.

First learn cakes
Then crumble and case
Then trays in sgfc
Then monotubs

I have done several of BRF cakes in sgfc's, that's really all I ave experience in so far. I just don't want to wait for a month for the cakes to colonize just to spawn it into the sgfc and not get any fruits.

I am currently doing a GT grow right now in the same sgfc that I will, later on, be doing these PE's in. The GT's are on their 2nd flush right now, and only 2 out 6 cakes are currently active, 1 cake is being dunked and the others just got done with pretty big flushes, so I'm waiting to see when they will start back up.

I realize the PE grow will probably not yield as much fruit as these GT's, but I believe that the PE will be better and obviously heavier per fruit.

Over all yield with PE is usually lower but it makes up in potency.
PE love the outdoors so if your cake does nothing in SGFC dunk it and then crumble it in a pot plant. My first time I did PE it was on cakes when all my flushes was done I did that and got an extra flush from it:shrug:
I wish I can get my hads on some PE spores to grow. I lost everything when I moved to this backwards place:lol:

But what I'll say is try and take half of your cakes crumble and case them.

MS PE bulk grows can push out great BE in my experience. I added a pic to my signature of an MS PE grow, 4 jars grain spawn, 8 jars coir/verm, fruited from spawning, added a thin layer of coir at about 80-90% colonisation.

You can get decent yields from PE on cakes. Just look into bottom watering the cakes, when the fruits start to pop. They are thirst and it will aid them greatly. Or alternatively, spawn them to bulk, as mentioned above.

Interesting, I think I am going to try the cakes first and see how they go. I will however leave enugh spores left to do another round if needed.

These were all PE brf cakes spawned to coir.

I have found the PE using brf cakes as spawn worked quite well.

This is very informational for if I want to try this route in the future, which I do at some point. Just a little nervous about getting contams and ruining the whole crop instead of just like 1 cake. Thank you much.

You can always make mini-monos to alleviate worries about spoiling an entire batch.

Go to a pet store, go to their terrarium section, find bricks of dried coir, follow Damion5050's bucket tek - the absolute simplest tek in the world.

I would go ms to pasty plates to wbs or your choice of easily found grain to straight coir or cvg monotub if you have the room, no need in getting all the Bs needed for cakes. There are good teks out there.

I had no problem growing them with the cake tek. They take longer in every stage from my experience and smaller flush but deffianly worth it.

You all are very helpful here thank you so much. I want to get into coir or small mono's at some point, just haven't learned it yet. I just don't know any other ways besides cakes right now lol. I will definitely check into some of if not all of the methods mentioned above. Thank you all again.

So I have been thinking, and I think I like this idea the most so far. The plates idea with the agar grow is very interesting and I'm sure has it's pros and cons to a mono. However, I am not as experienced as most growers on here are, as this will only be my 4th grow altogether. I will study this agar method a bit more before making a final decision. I just worry about contams on a mono even if it is a small mono. I have never done either of those methods before, only cakes.

      Does anybody have any recommendations on keeping a mono from being contammed? Or is it just a shot in the dark that happens sometimes more than others? Also, I am unsure of what WBS stands for. Currently, the PE strain has just started colonizing in BRF/verm. Will I be able to just crumble that onto coir in a monotub when it's ready?

Agar IS your way to avoid cantamination... anytime you inoculate straight from the syringe, it's a crapshoot... brf cakes can be used as spawn, and are suggested as a starting point because they're more forgiving than grains... it's not impossible to get clean spawn... but it's purely luck when you do... WBS is Wild Bird Seed... spawning to bulk with contaminated spawn, either cakes or grain, will usually end poorly

So I can spawn to bulk in a mono with these brf cakes when they are fully colonized? Will they produce fruits still? Or are you telling me that I should just do the agar?

You can spawn cakes to bulk (will make it easier for any existing contaminants to take hold), AND you should do the agar

At this point with 6 BRF jars already inoculated, I need to know if crumbling these cakes into coir in several mini monos will still produce edible fruits well, as long as it doesn't get contaminated of course.

Spawning to agar is just inoculating the spores onto that agar correct? Which is just a different style grow of cakes or a mono, is that correct? Just trying to understand. I apologize for the noobish questions lol

Also is it safe to say that I should wait until the end of colonization to make the substrate to avoid contams a little more? I figure the less time its up and going the less chance of contamination.
