Your math looks right. Use 1/2 pint. They colonize much faster...and fruit, not really flower...at about the same rate once they're colonized. Also, with the additional time required to colonize the pint jar, there's more time for contams to get in and take hold. (this is all assuming you're using a method similar to the pf tek of course)

yes and no. yes, 1/2 pint jars are easier to use because they colonize more quickly but no, pint jars aren't more susceptible to contamination simply due to the longer duration of colonization. even then, the colonization period for the pint jar is only a week (at most) longer than that of the 1/2 pint. and seeing is how the pint yields twice that of the 1/2 pint in roughly the same amount of time, it makes more sense to grow using pint jars. however, its all personal preference...
