No contamination, no colonization - ONLY A SMELL!

This is a question that I haven't seen posted yet. AFOAF had innoculated his jars and done the MMGG process about ten times now, and he considers himself to know his stuff. Yet, there is a problem. Once he changed from Brown Rice Flour + Vermiculite to a birdseed tek and the Alien Tek, he ran into a problem. No signs of colonization or contamination after three weeks. All he got was a nasty smell. Its kinda sweet but mostly sour and stingy, kinda like meldew or gym socks to be exact. But all the looks from the jar is a darker tint. It seems that the juice from the Alien tek turns into some type of nasty goop.

Anyway, if there is anyone out there that knows about this problem, I would like to know if you guys are getting this problem once in a while. By the way, My FOAF is getting jars that colonize through birdseed tek, but all batches from the Alien Tek have been a major fuck up. Whats the deal with it?

Bacterial contamination due to insufficient sterilisation.
Let the substrate sit for 12 hours before sterilizing it the pressure cooker for 1 hour @15 psi.

It's bacterial contamination...chuck 'em

I have used the Alien tek and it is very good if done properly...
But it is easy to get the balance off and mess up, I did that the first time I tried the Alien Tek..
You have to follow the directions EXACTLY to get it right.
Try it again, but stick with the birdseed as your main thing. The Alien Tek produces some potent shrooms as it claims, but you have to do it right.

Oh damn, I seriously dont understand why I should let the stuff sit there for about 12 hours before I put it in the PC. But I'll take your guys advice. I also have to follow that Alien Tek just like MMGG, I mean I read that baby like 6 times through before I actually did anything, maybe I should read the Alien tek a couple more times. Thanks guys!
