One Pint Jars

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to see if anyone has had any luck (or could tell me advantages vs. disadvantages) from using one pint jars instead of the standard half pint ones.

Cons..
Longer colonization time (not terribley longer)
Longer colonizatioon time leads to easier chance of contamination but if yuour clean you wont need to worry about it much..

all in all they are better then the half pints if your clean and got some patience great for caseings cause you know they only require 1 half pint your use about 2 so more mycelum more mushrooms...i havent even tried half pints 1 pints are fine

I have recently innoculated 12 pint jars with some PF Hawian spore. Colonization was great for the first 90% of the jars. But now it seems like its taken at least a week or two to colonize the bottom of the jar. I have recently ordered 60cc syringes with 3.75 inch needles. Out of my 12 jars I lost 6 do to newbie jitters and fucking with the jars. Right now I'd be happy to get one shroom so I can get a print and begin anew. If you use pint jars try to get syringes with long needles and innoculate as close to the bottom of the jar as possible.

Yeah. The next time I do this I think Im going to pump 5 cc's into each jar withand try to get the spores as close to the bottom of the jar as possible. Hopefully that will give me the colonization I'm looking for. Right now my jars have a ton of water droplets on the side and I don't want the mycelium to start to rot. I quess I'm a bit nervous and don't want to lose my last six jars. What is the effect of the water droplets on the side of the glass when colonization begins to slow?

i only used 1cc on each 1pint jar... 20sum days to 100% colonization...(B+ Strain)

If your steam sterilizing (or pc'ing for that matter), must you boil a little longer to sterilize (using pints as opposed to using 1/2 pints)?

yeah some say you should. i boil my 1/2 pints and pints both for just over an hour in a covered pot. covering it keeps moisture from evaporating as much and keeps the whole environment at a more constant temp, rather than the water being hotter than the immediate pot in the air. i mean air in the pot. or maybe i meant pot in my brain. i think that was it.

I use 1cc per pint. I've got B+ that have colonized 100% in 16 days. Pretty cool. Also, I just tripped my balls off today on a pint cake. Another good reason to use pints :)
