Im glad u made this thread, i too was very curious about peoples smoking habits and how they got that way. U worded it perfectly.

Openmine, your smoke habit is so strangr.lle, not sure how to classify it. Maybe u have mental control

Good stuff. Im not a smoker because the smell bothers me. I did enjoy hookahs, that shit is addicting.

Do you stick to a single brand of cigarette? If so why?

I try too.
Started off smoking newports cause i wanted to be a cool kid.
Then i got really bad off on pain pills and started smoking more.
Newports started to hurt my chest and burn my throat and cut away from my pill money.
So i switched to rolling them when i could and buying l&m menthol.
Rolling machine finally died this year so now its straight l&m.
L&m offers good taste for less.
(I might not take pills anymore but im still cheap.)

Does the taste vary enough between cigarettes to make you dislike a certain brand?

I have not found any other brand that i enjoy.

Do you go for cheapest?

No. L&m menthol , newport, or i go to another store.

Are pricier cigarette better in any way?

Only in your mind.

How and when did you start smoking?

My first gf that i "loved".
She smoked and i was curious.
Started out as a cig after school everyday.
Progressed.
Before that i was like a anti smoking commercials.

Do you remember the brand?

Newports.

Are you a happy smoker or do you constantly say you're trying to quit?

I hate smoking.
It stinks.
Its time consuming.
Hassle.

I do like the fact when i smoke i get alone time.
Sometimes i just light cigerettes to enjoy the crowd clearing effect.

How many cigs a day?

A pack sometimes a pack and a half.

What is the price of cigarettes in your area?

3.50 l&m
6.10 newports

How much do smking cost you per week, month or year?

I don't keep up with it.
Id say 5 bucks a day.

Good stuff. Im not a smoker because the smell bothers me.

Cigarettes aren't addicting for me at all, not even the slightest bit, even though a lot of my friends smoke I never got hooked on them...

...Even after smoking a pack over a weekend while camping or at a festival, I don't ever crave or think about smoking them when I'm just hanging out at home or going about a normal day. So many people have told me, "that's how the addiction starts", well I've been doing this for 10+ years and they haven't become any more addictive for me and I have yet to get any sort of real cravings or urges for a smoke .....

Tobacco is purely a social thing for me. Or when I'm camping it's nice to kick back with a smoke from time to time....When I trip on mushrooms, sometimes I'll bum some tobacco off a friend because I like smoking tobacco at a few points during my mushroom trips. The only time I ever get any sort of "craving" for a stoge is after eating a big satisfying meal, after eating a good meal a cig sounds nice sometimes (but it's not a craving so intense that I "have" to have a smoke, it just sounds nice, even though it sounds nice I never smoke after eating a meal unless I'm out eating somewhere and with friends).

The smell bothers me too  . Some tobacco smoke smells alright, but for the most part it's a pungent/annoying smell...When I'm not smoking, if someone is smoking around me I hate the smell. After I smoke a cig I almost always rinse out my mouth, and wash my hands if possible (because I can't smell my weed, I literally smell every piece of weed I break up with my fingers, I'm obsessed with aromas/smells lol, after smoking a cig my fingers reek like tobaccy and I'm not able to smell the herb when I break it up).

I'm also very mindful when I smoke tobacco...I'm mindful of where my smoke is drifting, I make sure my smoke isn't drifting towards anyone or going through/into anyone's car or house windows. When smoking in a group I always exhale upwards so the smoke isn't going towards anyone...When at festivals I don't smoke on the dance floor, I make sure to step away from peoples...I never ever toss the butts on the ground, I always make sure the butts are tossed into the trash even if this means holding onto them or putting them into a continer until I'm near a trash can...

...I actually pick up & throw away random cig-butts off the ground when I'm walking certain places.

....Most tobacco smokers are terrible at such things, they don't pay attention or give a shit where their smoke is drifting and they don't think twice about tossing the butts on the ground...That sorta shit pisses me off so much :mad2: .

Depends what you define as addiction? I buy like 3 or 4 packs a year  , and I don't even smoke the entire pack to myself. I go weeks with out having a smoke or even thinking about having a smoke.

I smoked a cigarette a few weeks ago, a few weeks before that I smoked like 10 over the weekend...before that it was like a month since I had one, before that it was a few weeks, and so on...

I drink a beer or two from time to time...I had a beer a couple weeks ago, a month or so before that I had a beer, a few weeks before that I drank like 3 beers and caught a mild buzz...But I don't think I'm an alcoholic/addicted to alcohol.

I put some opiates up my nose once or twice or a few times a year but I don't think I'm a junky  .

I don't feel that my use of tobacco is in anyway an addiction. I'll have a pack sitting on my dresser in my room for weeks with out touching it.

Thats really interesting. I like mindful smokers. They are my favorite type of smoker

Its interesting that its situational. My friend is similar, he started smoking packs in specific situations, like during drinking or if he was stressed out. It was a habit, very much dependent on his day.
