    #25231863 -

Do you stick to a single brand of cigarette? If so why?

Does the taste vary enough between cigarettes to make you dislike a certain brand?

Do you go for cheapest?

Are pricier cigarette better in any way?

How and when did you start smoking?

Do you remember the brand?

Are you a happy smoker or do you constantly say you're trying to quit?

How many cigs a day?

What is the price of cigarettes in your area?

How much do smking cost you per week, month or year?

I believe that is all.

Yes. The flavor.

Marlborough Red.

Both.

A pack every other month.

7.10

100 a year.

I don't.

I started smoking camels and then switched to marb reds. I only smoke like half pack a day so only spend like 2 or 3 grand a year on them.

$7.10 a  pack? OMG, I remember when they were 25 cents, before govt started taxing them. But good, if people are going to ruin their health and stick us with the costs then let them pay

I smoked a few cigs when I was a kid and thought it was cool. I quit and haven't smoked one since. Its a filthy nasty habit, ruins your health and costs a bunch.

I have been a holder of Altria Group, maker of Marlboro cigarettes since about 2006. It is my single largest holding and cigarette volumes decrease by about 3% every year in the USA.

I do not smoke.

Altria has about 50% volume of all cigarettes sold in america.

Yes. I guess because I like it the most

Yes, there are enormous variations in taste, water content and thus smoke texture and so on.

No, I don't go with the cheapest. I roll my own and the tobacco I choose is neither the cheapest, nor the priciest.

With prerolled cigs I feel like cheap ones contain more coarse material. Tastewise, I don't like prerolled so no idea.

I started smoking at 16. Had been a stoner for about a year at this point, as I'm from Europe we put tobacco in our bowls and joints. It was necessary to take a break from toking, and to my surprise, tobacco cravings manifested themselves.

First Brand was the tobacco my mother used to smoke, Turner halfzware, no idea whether it's availabl in the US, probably not.

I would consider myself a happy smoker, but only because....

... I smoke less and less. Nowadays between 5-10 per day. Oftentimes less. Seldom more, usually when I'm on stims or drunk.

A 40 g pack of rolling tobacco costs me about 5 dollars. Cigarettes, a 20 pack costs about 10 dollars.

I estimate costs of about 250 dollars per year.

I have quit and will stay quit. However I smoked 2 decades away, so I owe you an explanation

Do you stick to a single brand of cigarette? If so why?
I did. My initial brand was for familiarity (mom smoked it), my second brand was for coolness factor (Marlboro Red, not for me to be cool but it was an iconic brand so I was curious what it tasted like, its like how you wanna know how Johnny Walker and Smirnoff taste or what an AK47 shoots like), third brand was purely for flavor, fourth and final brand was to minimize health impact while fighting addiction

Does the taste vary enough between cigarettes to make you dislike a certain brand?
Its like weed, we're all connaisseurs until we run out, then we'd scrape the tar and resmoke it to not feel awful. Thats as honest an answer you'll get from any smoker.

Do you go for cheapest?
I did in the sense that I didnt smoke cigs but rolled my own to get better tobacco for a lower price. I did however buy premium rolling tobacco.

Are pricier cigarette better in any way?
Healthwise its all poison, but like with weed, the higher price stuff tastes nicer and doesnt consist of tobacco factory floor sweepings

How and when did you start smoking?
14 years old, at 4 AM, from my mom's tobacco. Daily addiction started that night. I was at once hooked.

Do you remember the brand?
Samson Halfzwaar ("medium heavy") by Theodorus Niemeyer (Dutch tobacco company)

Are you a happy smoker or do you constantly say you're trying to quit?
I never was a hapopy smoker, all nightmare long I felt addicted, wanted out, felt my health go to shite, Sad huh?

How many cigs a day?
Cruising speed, 2 per waking hour so about 30 a day. I rolled thin ones with a joint filter so the amount of tobacco smoked was about 10 grams a day which is "half a pack" of Marlboro's worth. Pre- heart attack I smoked up to 50 grams a day, 2.5 packs a day. I had no reason to live. My heart attack provided that reason: not wanting to die. I quit for 7 years and then re-addicted. after an MDMA session gone wrong. The MDMA had me fiending for using anything at all, and I caved and smoked.

What is the price of cigarettes in your area?
Have to look that up - Marlboro Reds: $7,50/pack of 20

How much do smking cost you per week, month or year?
Years after quitting my health still is not where it should be. if i smoked today I'd re-roll the tobacco and use $125/month or $1500/year (all in USD)

I believe that is all.

Good for you, asante. If you can quit the cigs you can quit sugar and flour much more easily. The food cravings go away after a week or two. Overweight is a major health hazard much like cigs. You can do it.

Quoted so I can read and answer properly.

-1 Yes, whenever I pick a brand I stick to it until I switch; then I stick to that brand. I'm not 100% sure why, it's just what I do. Maybe a mixture of habit and taste/flavor/circumstance/price.

-2 Yes.

-3 Not always but sometimes if I'm broke.

-4 Yes.

-5 When I was 18, I started experimenting with Crack Cocaine, Crystal Meth and smoking Heroin. So smoking a cigarette didn't seem all that bad anymore.

-6 Malbaro Red 100's

-7 6-14 a day depending if I'm working or not.

-8 I do not pretend to quit. I intend to quit in the next three years but not at this moment.

-9 My current brand Camel Crush is 5.75$ here, if I drive fifteen minutes up the street and cross a state line they are 9.75$ and 11.75$ in thr city areas.

-10 Um, I guess do the math? About 900$ to 1,200$ a year.

This post makes me want to go smoke a cigarette.

i smoked for 7 years and quit 3 months ago, probably my longest streak yet. i don't see myself going back to it.

i associate smoking to correlate with unhappiness and general dissatisfaction in life, dissonance, depression and stress. looking back at it i seemed to use all of those things as an excuse to smoke, and even thought that smoking relieved those symptoms and eased my tension. but in retrospect it was actually causing all of it. since quitting i no longer experience stress, nervousness or depression. i'm not sure if it's a direct cause of quitting smoking or that i'm establishing other healthy habits as well, probably a combination..

anyway i totally have sympathy for all smokers out there. it does feel good especially when you wanna unwind after a long day, or give yourself a bit of a *umpf*push/boost in the morning.

i always preferred to roll my own. that way you have to work a little bit for it and it's not as convenient as poppin one out of a box like it's a damn tic tac. it would disrupt your day a little bit or in my case, i would see it as more of a ritualistic sorta thing. the act of rolling up a cig, i would take it real slow and spend a couple minutes just rolling the thing, nice and slow. then i would admire my work of art for a moment before indulging. the whole act in and of itself makes you appreciate it on a level that it also brings your awareness into focus as to what you're actually doing to yourself and to your body. it makes you not want to do it as much. when you just pop one out of a box it's easy to become neglectful and negligent.

okay rant done.

Do you stick to a single brand of cigarette? If so why?: American Spirits for the most part, one reason I go with them is they burn slow and have alright taste..Most other cigs burn really fast and have a meh/funk taste about em'.

Does the taste vary enough between cigarettes to make you dislike a certain brand?: I'm not a huge tobacco smoker, so I haven't really tried many different brands/varieties...but yea, cheap brands tend to taste shitty & harsh.

Do you go for cheapest?: No

Are pricier cigarette better in any way:? I don't know what counts as a "pricey" cigarette, but the spirits I smoke are way smoother and taste far less terrible than the cheap brands that my friend smokes.

How and when did you start smoking?: First stoge I smoked was probably when I was around 19 or 20 years old. Was drinking with some friends and decided to try smoking one. I smoke cigarettes but I'm not really a "smoker", just like I'll drink beer occasionally but I'm not an alcoholic.

Do you remember the brand?: Pretty sure it was a Marlbro 27

Are you a happy smoker or do you constantly say you're trying to quit?: I enjoy having a smoke from time to time, I don't feel that I smoke often enough to "quit"  . Maybe someday I'll choose to never have one again  .

How many cigs a day?: I'm not a daily cigarette smoker. I will buy a pack if I'm going to a festival or if I'm going camping for a few days. While at a festival/camping, I might smoke 3 or 4 a day. Once I get back home, the pack will sit there for weeks at a time before I light up another. I bought a pack around November 15th and it lasted me until February.

What is the price of cigarettes in your area?: $7 to $9 per pack.

How much do smoking cost you per week, month or year?: Probably somewhere around $30 a year.

decided to quit exactly 3 weeks ago today so hopefully all goes as planned.
normally smoked a pack of camels per week, blue or gold. I never felt much difference.
Marlboro reds started tasting like crap so I stopped those. commercial cigarettes are pretty shit tasting compared to better pricey brands.
since California raised the tax on tobacco it averages $8-11 per pack.
if I do eventually smoke tobaccs again itd be from my own harvest in the form of a weed blunt probably laced up with somethin.
