Need help from car/audio pros

Just installed double din touchscreen in 2005 hyundai sonata this morning and everything is great except I cant push it all the way in because there is a metal bar in the way :/ im at work but will provide pics asap. Was just wondering if it would be safe to cut out portion of bar or just cut a square out of my dash and leave it stick out(about 1/2 inch)

Get the dremel on it. That's what I'd do. I've installed a fuck ton of car audio in my time. Nothing wrong with a little chopping to make it fit right!

Yep same. Used to be quite good at it. Would wire my cars for subs. New speakers, tweeters, etc etc.

Sometimes you just got to jimmy rig the bitch a little.

Also helps to get proper dimensions before you order parts :lol:

Would have to see a picture but get in a good crash and I doubt a small bar behind the speaker is saving you from the plastic of the middle console hitting you.

I'd say that's the least of your worries. :lol:

Should be ok to Dremel out. If u are strapped for cash, u can find used ones at pawn shops or online.

SS - Draw some lines where you think you need to cut. It's only purpose is to support your dashboard. If you can get away with leaving some of it behind that would be better than cutting out a whole section, but either way it's not gonna do any harm.

@jsb yeah I think thats what im going to do, I only have to cut part of the top section out for it to work.

@Lc no my car does not vibrate at all

U should be fine. But there is some risk involved if its structural support. But i would say im 80% confident it will be fine.

I just cut one side and bent it down enough for the stereo to slide over it :thumbup:

Nice dude.

I used to own a Boss. It stopped working thou after like 4 years. But was one of my favorite decks. Had stereo Vacuum Tube Decible Analyzer. So sick.

Right now i have a JVC with lots of cool features. Its a great upgrade even thou i miss that stereo visual display analyzer.
