What would a 1mt nuke look like
    #25162923 -

From a "safe" distance, say 20 miles. (before fallout).

Its hard to tell from pictures because most of them are taken from the sky, but how large do you guys think the mushroom cloud would be? Would it fill the sky?

Ive trying to figure this one out but cant find any good images of nukes taken from the ground

Hella google.

How much heat is 2.25?

--------------------
Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

2.25=hot :lol:

Still, not really what im asking. How large (wide) is the mushroom cloud itself. I could find the height but not width of nuclear explosions.

I'm glad you asked. One time when playing Apples to Apples I played the Hiroshima card to the word "Toasty", so I'd say this qualifies me as an expert in explosion dynamics.

The amount of heat at 2.25 miles from the epicenter depends on the ambient temperature, pressure and gas concentrations prior to the explosion. :rollsafe:

I would survive a 1 megaton explosion over the Washington monument . If I lived 1000 ft further south I wouldn't

the amount of dust put in the air by 100nukes in cities on land etc would blot out the sun and cause nuclear winter
99% of people would die really  fucking quick lol
we'd probably survive thanks to people on mountains and shit

The nuclear winter theory is kinda bullshit. Hundreds of nuclear weapons have been detonated in the atmosphere

Cool fact. Two nuclear weapons were detonated in Mississippi.

Yeah ive been reading that the widespread damaged caused by a nuclear war are mostly bullshit (obviously, it would be terrible, but not apoclyptic) and humanity would survive, certainly wouldn't be the apoclypse. Also, nuclear winter is not real.

you guys aren't very bright
think of what nukes do
they vaporize shit and turn it into carbon

when we test them we do so in the atmosphere or around bodies of water
not the same thing as dropping a 1000megaton Tsar bomb on a city
look at how strong nukes are compared to the past
imagine turning two miles into a fucking hole on the face of the planet and then vaporizing everything around it for a hundred miles

For dust and smoke to blot out the sun for an extended period, it would have to be launched into the stratosphere, where thermal inversion prevents that dust from settling back down to the surface. The explosion of a nuclear device will send material into the stratosphere, but there isn't a tremendous amount of material. The firestorms that would ravage cities would not put smoke into the stratosphere. And that material will be quickly rained out back to the surface.

Also, there is no such thing as a 1000 megaton nuclear weapon.

Its possible but most of the energy would be released into space so its pointless.

Actually nukes are weaker now a days then in say, the 1970s, because advancements in technology allow us to be more accurate with them. And we have waaaaay less nukes.

Also, heh
