Probably a lot.

You do not explain 're-victimising'.

--------------------
Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

I hate to be that guy... But this is some serious cluster b narcissistic behaviour.

Feeling victimized because a liscenced individual diagnosed you with something and then pondering the diagnosis onto a majority of said liscenced individuals.

Idk.. Sounds like it falls into the subcatergory.

Because they assume most of their patients have repressed grief from personal tragedies they were not able to deal with at the time. These repressed negative emotions manifest as passive-aggressive behaviors, and the attempted cessation of those behaviors is usually why most people go to therapy.

Sounds like you don't like this psych. Maybe try another one. It's 50/50 you and the psych; sounds like he just put it to him straight though and didn't want that.

I have known some 'good' ones.  To the point they do almost nothing.

I can see a lot of pros that are in their occupation for an ego and to defeat others.  To be above others.

being a person is very complex, and while all people should be equal we are not the same in every way.
we pick up stuff from our journey, distinct stuff that sticks, we each have our own smell, some have tics, we all have habits of one kind or another, cravings, aversions, abilities.

I think the therapist can offer shared engagement with an issue which can be good for connection or catharsis. Diagnosis, is always somewhat oblique since we are all so different. I would skip the diagnoses since all that does is lump you into some group.

Too many variables here and questions, beginning with why someone you know related aspects of therapy to you. Your public disclosure of another individual's private therapy session is like playing that childhood game 'telephone' wherein one person after another whispers a sentence into the next person's ear, and by the end of the line, the original message has been distorted as to be unrecognizable. Therefore, your question here is really something of another order and cannot be answered. Labelling a condition is not necessarily victimizing or doing violence to an individual, but who knows what went on and what you are disclosing of someone's therapy session?

Professionally, I endeavor to identify and attempt to extract the emotional roots of a trauma which can be labelled PTSD, without re-traumatizing the individual. I do not know for certain if your "someone" was in fact "revictimized." That individual should have kept the therapy session internalized to gestate like a lengthy alchemical process, or like a magickal act - performed and put out of one's mind, certainly not shared with others which is to 'profane' the intimacy of the process.

After careful consideration, a therapist might begin to elucidate a possible diagnosis, but "Cluster B Personality Disorders" include a range of separate disorders and your "someone" is not characterized by all of them. There is usually one central, dominant personality disorder and some 'satellite' characteristics, (unless, like Donald Trump, there are two equally predominant disorders which earns a title outside of the DSM-5 criteria found among psychiatrists). There is no telling what you've heard, or what your "someone" understood, or what the intention of the psychologist was, but typically, if not for the sake of compassion than for avoidance of legal problems, a therapist in any discipline will not intentionally upset a client to the point of an uncontrolled abreaction. As I routinely tell my therapy subjects, "You will NOT leave this [office] space feeling worse than when you arrived." This is just good professional ethics.

I know someone who went to a psychologist and was told that he has "cluster B personality traits" all because he has PTSD and he's avoiding socializing. Why would a psychologist revictimize an already traumatized person with PTSD like that? How many psychologist are narcissist themselves?

Not sure what you mean by 're-victimising', though with a psychologist it seems pretty easy to think you have a diagnosis and to convince then you have it.

The one I went to went all along with saying I had tendencies of someone with Bipolar II and I even cried after I heard it.

Fast forward a few months and a psychiatrist told me one thing, "In order to have a disorder you need to be disordered, and you are not that". After we talked it out ofc, but forreal in my own experience a psychologist seems more like a therapist that you can talk to rather than someone who will certifiably diagnose and treat you.

Quote:
Although there are differences in the two fields, psychiatrists and psychologists often work together in the treatment of patients. A psychologist is not able to write prescriptions, but may recommended a patient be seen by a fellow psychiatrist in order to receive medications. And vice versa for psychiatrists, they often refer patients to fellow psychotherapists and psychologist to receive counseling and/or mental health therapy. A psychiatrist is concerned with the patients well-being, however, their focus is primarily towards disorders such as a chemical imbalance, whereas a psychologist primary focus is on the patients thoughts, feelings and general mental health.

Both a psychologist and a psychiatrist are Doctors, however, someone practice psychology has earned a doctorate degree that is either a PhD or a PsyD, whereas someone practicing psychiatry is a medical doctor.

"re-victimize" is an interesting term. Excellent point

For many people, adopting a permanent label (diagnosis) that they will struggle with
for a lifetime is very harmful. Notice how many people cling to their "diagnosis",
which often carries with it victim-hood and powerlessness.

BTW, before we call PTSD a "problem" or a "disorder" we should appreciate how important
post traumatic stress is for animals in the wild, from an evolutionary perspective.

If you live in the jungle, and don't experience PTS, you will likely die! It's a way to learn.

We are taught anxiety is bad and abnormal. We have pathologized it.

Since life is constantly changing, don't we all have "adjustment disorder"?

"Experts" say about 30% of dogs experience some form of canine anxiety.

Which is why it has become popular for Prozac to be prescribed for dogs.
