Thinking about starting a shoebox grow.?

I have a minimal experience and don’t have a PC. I’m not sure if I should start with grains or just break up some pf tek cakes. I will be using a MS syringe, I’ve read that MS isn’t reliable with grain. I have had success with pf cakes without a PC. I have some glass Petri discs and I know I could sterilize those in the oven. I haven’t tried agar yet and I’m a little apprehensive to do so. Also, I will have to buy some presterilized grain. Any suggestions on which route I should go? Obviously, I’m looking for a method with the least chance of failure.

Stick to cakes or buy a pressure cooker
Cakes can go to bulk if you grind them up then they become spawn

if you look around a bit, you can come up with a pressure cooker for almost nothing usually. i'd definitely get one. your mind will be blown by spawning grains to bulk.

More nutrients and you don't have to grind them or shred them to use as spawn. Plus grain to grain transfers open so many doors to creating large quanitites of spawn.

Ive been looking locally for one, no luck as of yet. The presto 23qt seems like the best bang for the buck. I have a few prints and would like to get into agar so, I may bite the bullet if this attempt without one doesn’t pan out.

i find prepping grain to be easier then making cakes

get one. you'll need one for sure and they aren't to pricey. the presto works fine and is cheap.
