First grow PE "fat cake grow" with a pic of some pins

Thought this site had some pretty useful info so I thought I'd contribute my experience so far.

This is my first grow and its going fairly well. I colonized some WBS with  some different PE LCs I made. First set of jars colonized over the course of 4 weeks. Mixed 1 pint of one agar isolate with 1/2 pint of a second isolate (Didn't mix any others for follow up grow). Spawned them into a plastic 1 gallon water jug my roomie had tossed out. About 1 inch verm on bottom broken WBS in middle and lightly sprinkled with verm on top. No pasteurization on verm (second grow had PCed verm but both seem fine). I put the  jug back in a colonization tub for about a week with plastic wrap around the outside to let the myc get a bit stronger. Took it out and set it to fruit in a fruiting chamber. It had a cheapo peristaltic air pump with polyfill in the tube to make a filtered FAE system but that broke so I ended up drilling holes in the side but didnt make it to any TEK spec. It also had a 10 W white LED but my dog bumped and shorted out the wires lol. Now it just holes and is getting regular sun.

Pinned after about 2 weeks in FC. Lots of weirdo PE shapes. Been 4 days since first pins. Waiting sucks.

Maybe someone with more experience can comment on how long these pins might take before maturing but it seems they probably have at least 4 or 5 days? Though I heard PE is pretty slow.

Edit: I also cut the jug along the bottom verm layer to remove the sides.

PE does not grow the same as normal cube. "Mutants/Blobs/upside downers. On the first flush.
And IMO PE takes MUCH extra time. During Consolidation and Fruiting.
Your second Flush should hopefully be Normal PE however.... They need extra time.
I had a PE monotub in fruiting for 25 days On a second PE flush 1 time.
I cant truly say this applies to PF tek Cakes. But its just my exp with PE

Edit: And IMO they Blow all other cubes out out this world. Not as potent as Tampanesis Fruits and Not even close to Pan Cyan. But its a solid Vide. No hitting in waves.

6 days later update

Harvested 45g of pins and mutant blobs( Yes I know I'm being impatient but it looks like more are coming soon)

more normal pins are coming out!

1st flush yielded 145g wet.

Second flush should be done by in the next two days.

it was 3 pints put into one cake. Here's a nice picture of a semi dried one from today that's in my belly now :smile:

2nd flush Harvest time :smile:

Second flush gave 90 wet grams so far.

This picture is of the ripe ones that I picked but didnt have time to weigh. It was probably about 120g-150g wet by visual estimation. Drying at 45 C in a dehydrator.

Looks like u might be over-misting a bit. Might wanna let up just a tad.

You're right! I really started to cut back on the misting recently. I used to overdo it with 3 or 4 mists a day but they really only need one to be happy! My second fat cake ( 2 qt cake) is doing amazing with only one mist a day.

Good news is I just got a nice 1/4 that just finished drying. Same as the ones above. My mush was way too wet from spraying as mentioned above. This is probably why they only were about 5% dry mass by weight after dehydrating.

Bad news is I sprained my akle in front of about 30 of my colleagues after getting shitfaced at trivia and had to go to the hospital.

This also means I can stay home tommorrow and trip sooo it not so bad right?
