that is that star chart for the exact time and location he reported his UFO. the moon was practically on top of Aldebaran.

From NASA:

Quote:
Monday morning, October 9, 2017, the bright star Aldebaran will appear near the waning gibbous Moon. For the Washington, DC area, The Moon will appear at its highest in the sky at 4:07 AM, with Aldebaran to the east. They will appear to shift closer together until morning twilight begins at 6:14 AM EDT.

No it wasn't, even according to your chart.  Three degrees of arc is almost six times the apparent diameter of the Moon.  It just looks like they're right on top of each other because everything is distorted in a planisphere and none of those circles are actually meant to communicate information about the apparent sizes of the objects that they represent.  The diameters of those circles are just a convention used to indicate visual magnitude.

Ugh it was Aldebaran. Their closeness was so notable that if you google "Aldebaran moon October 9" you find dozens of sites discussing it.

Again, that's 6:14 AM.  If he was looking at the sky that night then Taurus would have risen fifteen hours later.  To add onto that: There were a lot of other stars, at the times that you're referring to, which were way closer to the Moon than Aldebaran was.  Regardless of whether he was looking at things the morning or the night of October 9, 2017 it's almost certain that he was just seeing some star in the Hyades.

I looked at his post. It was made at 6am PST October 9. Perfectly consistent with the near occultation of Aldebaran by the moon three hours later.

You can ignore most other stars, only the brightest stars and planets will not be drowned out by the brightness of the moon when they that close.

And if you go out and look at the Moon then you'll see that its apparent size is only ~.5° of arc and that Aldebaran is in the same general direction of an open star cluster with no shortage of targets that are bright enough to see even with a hefty dose of glare.  If the distance between the Moon and a star is 3° of arc then it's not going to look like it's right on top of the Moon.  To reiterate, the Moon's apparent size is ~.5°.  Anything with a distance from the Moon of 3° of arc will appear to be almost six Moon diameters away from it.

And that appears very close. Some of this has to do with psychology. It is not known why, but the moon and the sun appear larger than their actual size. This becomes apparent when you take a picture of the moon. It never appears nearly as large as it does when you are looking at it. Simply saying that an object appears 6 moon widths away would make it seem very far, but that is only because we see the moon much larger than it actually is.

No, that's just an optical illusion.  The Moon is always ~.5° of arc wide, regardless of its altitude and regardless of who you're asking.  The apparent size of the Moon never changes and saying that something is six apparent Lunar diameters away from another object would just mean that the two things are ~3° of arc distant from each other.  It's just a meter-stick.  Meter-sticks are common in astronomy.

And something 3° from the moon appears very close. Jesus Christ dude.  Our eyes aren't meter sticks.

Like I said, plenty of websites made note of the fact that the moon and Aldebaran were very close to each other that morning and to look for it.

Something 3° of arc distant from the Moon appears six lunar diameters distant from the Moon.  As an experiment, try taking a measuring-stick (something about the width of your pinky finger, with an extended arm would work well since the Moon is about the same apparent size as half of that width) and set it six stick-lengths away from a shiny object.  The tick-marks on a decimeter stick might actually work pretty well, for this.

I'm also not sure what your websites are supposed to confirm.  There is no doubt in my mind that Aldebaran and the Moon were within ~3° of arc of each other at the times you've mentioned, and at LC's approximate geographical coordinates (assuming that he lives in Prineville).  I just think that you're relying a little too much on the planisphere to figure out what things actually look like, which is pretty much what you are not supposed to use a planisphere for.

Dude, you were on shrooms. There was no UFO. It was probably just a drone or a plane or a helicopter or just your imagination because after all you were on shrooms at the time. The shrooms could have easily made half a dozen things seem UFO like.

If aliens came to earth, it would be like colombus landing in America. It would be totally massive and overwhelming and everyone, everywhere would know. It would be front page New York Times, and 24/7 coverage on Fox.

The universe is instead eerily silent and empty. Despite being relatively habitable, when we look out into the universe, we see and hear nothing but silence and emptiness. This leads to some relatively bleak thinking like the Great Filter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Filter
