I always freeze mine and there isn't a differance between frozen and fresh ones, when both are sampled.
As heat is bad for the chemical compounds it is best to keep them out of the heat, at least.

My understanding is that the freezing process does cause some damage to them due to the fact that as water is frozen (remember they are 90% water), it expands, which in turn ruptures the cell structures. For the most part I have heard conflicting stories as to whether this makes a difference in the end, but as for my case I would dry them before I would freeze them.
why freeze them if they are dry? Once they are completly dry they should keep in an airtight container on a shelf. At room temperature Even of it is humid outside the container. No worries Although mine never stay around long.
I ALWAYS freeze mine after they are dried with a fan then a dessicant. Never had a problem and the dose remains the same. Did an experiment with my buddy one time. 3.5g of the frozen cubes and 3.5 grams of just plain dried cubes. We both tripped equally like we have MANY times in the past.
Freeze em dude....no prob.
PS- I wouldn't suggest putting them in the freezer right after picking em though.
