Jr. But now that I think about it I think schools had the option to opt out if they wanted to fund their own sex ed.

Few enough places could even afford that.

Twenty five million children are growing up without fathers in the home. That’s 40%
of the kids in America. As reported by the Center for Children and Families.

In 1960, just 5 million children under 18 lived with only their mother. By 1980 that
number had more than doubled. Today, according to the Annie E. Casey Foundation,
19 million children live in single-mother families, up from 17 million in 2000. In some
school districts today, including several in New York and Michigan, the majority of
families are led by a single mother.

I hope I'm not asking a question that's already been asked in this thread 6 times. Here goes. To answer the question I will ask another question and your answer will define what I think of single parent house holds:

What's worst? A child living in a house with two stable competent adults or in a house with a single depressed dysfunctional drug addict possibly abusive parent who can't keep a job?

What's worst? A child living in a house with one stable competent adult or in a house with two dysfunctional drug addict possibly abusive parents who can't keep a job?

So in short, what's the difference?

we would have to compare a fair sample size of each group to see which is worse. i dont see how its relevant though.

in the real world, under real conditions, the children of single parents do worse.

Statistically... We can't really judge people or fix the problem if we assume simply being single is the issue.

It would be worth trying to study at any rate. If we did indeed find that children who are raised by a single parent who is stable has a good income and time to spend with the child and that child still did poorly it would tell us something significant about early childhood development and children in general

but even if children with stable single parents do wellclearly single parents are less likely to be stable.

weather it's just not having a nuclear family thats the problem or single parents are less likely to be stable those are both a problem that can be solved by not having kids out of wedlock and getting divorced.

Norway does just fine with single mom's with more than one child with more than one father.

It's about culture and the expectations that the expectations themselves yield the results.

There are still American movies on TV, yes from decades ago...yet about woman feeling they are dirty and unwanted and impure if not virgins....and wanting to get married.

What about the orphans with no parents at all? One parent is better than none right?

You pose a good question.

I wonder how orphans fare as compared to single parent households? There is a tough factor though -- how soon the child is adopted by a two parent family.

I don't think you all understand the implications of what you're talking about. If the future of the west is artificial insemination and artificial wombs because men and women can no longer get along, and the rest of the world has no problem reproducing, then we will not survive.

How do you prevent divorce though? That's the number one cause of single parenthood.

You don't
you take the kids away from the parents when they divorce
and put them into adoptive homes with two parents

give whole new meaning to 'stay together for the kids' :cookiemonster:
