casing depth
    #2461814 -

Will a small 60/40 layer about 1" and substrate of 1" cause problems. Will the depth of the layer and substrate affect the flush size that much. Also getting alot of abhorts and thinking this could be the reason.

With 1" of substrate, it's recommended to use about a 1/2" layer of casing material max. 1" is a lot of casing for the mycelium to colonize. Not sure if it will affect fruiting or not!

your casing depth should be about 1/4 of the substrate depth.... so, a 1" substrate depth would get 1/4" casing.

a 2" substrate depth would get 1/2" casing layer... and so on.

I might add that 1" of substrate is not a lot. Chances are you will end up with really small fruits. I never go under 2" of substrate.

good luck!

at 2 inches of substrate, it would take 3 pint jars to make a 6'x6' case?
