Stop Error - BIOS is not ACPI complient
    #2459102 -

So I just went to turn on my computer and just as Windows begins to start I get a wonderful BSOD saying something like

STOP ERROR - The BIOS in this machine is not ACPI complient. Please reinstall windows and press F7 during text setup to force non-ACPI drivers to be installed.

Not something I enjoy seeing, to say the least! Especially when I know my BIOS is ACPI and it has worked fine up until this point! So I do the only thing any God fearing geek would do...rip out the CMOS battery in hopes it will clear everything up.

After setting up my BIOS once again, Windows started normally.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this would have happened? I'm thinking maybe I need to replace the battery, it could be getting weak and causing the CMOS to corrupt.

One of a few things:

CMOS battery is going dead, most likely cause.

Hardware is starting to fail, most likely logic board.

Computer took a power hit and lost its mind for a while.

Software corrupted bios settings... virus, or poorly written windows code.

Somebody got on your computer and played around with your bios settings.

I agree...it's most likely the CMOS battery. I wouldn't hurt to replace it, especially if you've had your computer for a few years. If you're really bugged by it, you could also flash your BIOS again after replacing it, but I don't think that would be necessary.

Well I just turned it on this morning and got the "CMOS battery low - Please run Setup" message at POST :smirk:

Looks like it's time for a new battery. Damn thing is only a year and a half old!
