I think its almost a given that he meant well, and some of the information he released was worth releasing.

On the other hand he took it upon himself to release a lot of info about multiple projects, and I have to wonder how far he took his concerns through the proper channels.

Overall I'm undecided on him.

The proper channels would have had his ass in prison and silenced permanently.
I think he took the only possibly viable channel, and still at huge risk.

I'd make snowden president if I could. He's a legit 'murican not a fake Trump or Hitlery tier 'murican.

The more I read about the guy, the more unhinged and disgruntled he comes off, especially considering the variety of information he took upon himself to reveal. Individual instances are questionable enough, considering his oath and the fact that these instances are not simple cut and dry moral questions, factor that by how many pages and projects he unveiled.

And yeah, there are proper channels, you're not going to get wacked for stating moral objection to some project or another. Recklessly breaking your oath isnt going to change the agency, it will only shift things around.

Have fun jumping on the guys dick, because espionage is so sensational and accountability is boring.

Oh that's a fact is it? :strokebeard:

Can you explain why it's not cut and dry morality?

Each and every one of them? Or a small sample of a few dozen?

Like I said, there are instances where I agree with his ethical concerns, but I doubt he aeriously considered every single one of the thousands of pages and dozens of projscts he unearthed. Not to mention his oath and all that.

That's a fair assessment I suppose

I don't believe there should be hidden or classified information of any kind.  So from that perspective, I don't think it matters if he combed every page.

And I believe there are many instances where not only do I agree with his ethical concerns, but also agree with how he handled those ethical concerns.

And for me, it has nothing to do with a hard on for espionage and everything to do with cut and dry morality.

I do believe some information should be classified, black ops in general, cyberops maybe more so than anything

Not really certain about what to think of Snowden, leaning heavily on skepticism, but not ready to condemn him

So you believe we should announce to an enemy exactly when and how we are going to attack.  Brilliant.

Well, that's fair and all, but it's more about living in a world where all knowledge is free and accessible.  Obviously it's my utopian dream of how things SHOULD be, but I realize the current reality of the world is quite different.

I suppose I shouldn't talk in such absolutes

Maybe the species that replaces us will be able to do that.  Humans aren't capable of it, though.

Patriot

The NSA, NRO, and CIA machine has gotten out of control.

I'd agree that this is the main reason Snowden did what he did.
He was shocked at how they were not using any resources on 'enemies'
but all their resources were directed at violating Americans and keeping it a secret from them.

A lot more shift goes on than Snowden knew about.
