Edward Snowden: Patriot or traitor?

I'm watching the Oliver Stone movie right now on him.

I mean I know scattered bits & pieces of the whole story but yeah this shit is pretty mind blowing. I'm gonna watch CitizenFour (the Steven Soderbergh documentary) next.

Idk this topic was probably beat to death here back when it was actually a hot topic so I apologize but I was just wondering what you guys & gals think about him.

And by the way the movie is definitely worth a watch...although I'm guessing that the documentary is even better.

Since your Declaration describes his action as dutiful and patriotic, which is truly the only metric he should be judged by given he is an American, I would say he did the right thing.

All he really did is tell the American people something that should have never been kept from them.
I love how they call him a 'traitor' but he only gave info to his own people. This is only traitorous to people who were profiting from the secrecy.

He leaked the information to the citizens of his own country. That's duty to the oath not your boss.

If he gave the information secretly to foreign nations that would be treasonous. Though I personally have little regards for invisible lines. So treason becomes a little bit silly.

The real world is different though so treason exists but no I don't think it was treasonous of Snowden. Admirable is what I would call it.

Realistically, he sacrificed everything he had, his house, his crazy paying job in a tropical setting, contact with his wife, his money,
