85% of all assaults in the USA involve a weapon.  Probably a lot of those are getting held up at gunpoint.  I don't know if that counts as assault.
I practice martial arts for other reasons besides fighting.  I like tai chi a lot.

Move out to the country.  It's mellow out here.  All this violence talk makes me think about Hollywood, which is where i'm from.

Even if you have a pistol on you, your hands better be quick

For that reason Ive been wanting to practice quick draws, there are guys who can accurately unload 2 clips in as many seconds. Just dont shoot your gf when she surprises you for kicks

The gun is by far the best weapon, unless you're in a confined space then you want a knife.  Someone can grab the gun barrel but not the knife.  In Iraq, they cleared out the small dwellings using knives.  That means there are soldiers who killed a lot of Iraqis using knives.

You dont fight multiple opponents, with or without weapons, you run and escape.

Only a complete moron would willingly choose to fight multiple armed opponents with his martial arts skills and empty hands. That kind of thinking comes from watching too many kung fu movies instead of training in a real fight gym.

Obviously in that situation you run.

The best thing to study to learn real tactical combat situations including weapons is Krav Maga. No question.

The best possible fight training is MMA + krav maga. MMA covers all aspects of unarmed combat and krav maga covers tactics and techniques when knives , pistols or bats come into it.

It's sounding like the person thinking it's possible learned there fighting from movies. That's not how it happens at all. Even great fighters can be taken down with numbers. One good punch and you can't tell where it's coming from next. From all sides. It's not one by one.

I've watched it happen plenty of times and have jumped in for random people that I don't even know. STOP!!!!! You have won what more do you want. I never wish to severely injure people. If you want to fight you want to fight. But damn near killing someone as i've witnessed someone have to be airlifted as they're taking turns curb stomping him. Fucking stop. At risk to me getting jumped.

I never fight to that point. Never have never will. It's a mutual respect thing. Shake there hands, heal your body, etc. I could go farther but once they hit the ground I'm done. They still get up talking shit. But I'm not really trying to hurt you I forgot why we were fighting the first time I hit you.

There is plenty of violence out in the country, To many men not enough women.

I developed a formula over it. Too many niggas/ not enough women= fight. Always.

From what Ive heard from combat vets, they clear buildings with shotguns and rifles.

Maybe it was different during Falujah when it was Marines out front, I dont know many Marines

Sunshine only knows combat from what I just posted about. That's why you have to correct him.

I know a few marines. That's my biggest regret. I didn't join the military in peak physical performance. I liked smoking weed more. I needed the discipline and structure. I have neither of those things in my life atm. They are all doing pretty well for themselves all though they did do a tour and have haunted eyes. Won't talk about it.

You can still join if you're under 34

Ive seen people go right back to their old bs after or even before leaving the military though, while others use it to their benefit. Food for thought.

I wouldnt join the Marines in any case, they treat you like shit.

If you can walk away or run away from a gang then fine. I always say try to keep out of trouble. But, what if you aren't a fast runner or you think you are but they catch you? I know what I'm talking about and while your chances go down the more opponents are against you, you still have a chance.

That guy who was really big and tough but got beat by 6 people that was mentioned, may have been a good fighter. Maybe he tried to take out one guy then concentrated on another while the rest were beating on him. Thats how people fight who are used to one on one. Against more than one you have to use different tactics and a different strategy. You hit and move, throw a flurry of punches and try to make each one count. Move around so that they get into each other's way trying to get to you. Punch the one in front, immediately hit one to the side and perhaps another punch to the other side then move. If you stand in one spot and try to fight one at a time you will be pounded good. Or you can take the abuse without fighting back and hope they don't fuck you up too much or kill you. Your choice.

An alternate strategy if you are a good runner and start to run but one or two are really fast and are catching up to you is to back kick the closest one, if there is another close throw some punches then start running again before the rest catch up. Easier said than done but it can be done. I will freely admit I was probably lucky in my big fight with multiple opponents but those strategies did work. They never landed a punch or kick or were able to hit me until I was knocked down by a tackle from behind. Then I got hit with a bottle or something and had to have stitches.

I rolled the one(s) who were on my back off by raising my butt. They were holding down my shoulders so they could give me more whacks with the bottle, some kicks, etc. Trying to raise my shoulders meant lifting their weight along with my own. So by jacking my butt into the air I did the unexpected and they fell off forward into the one who had hit me. I then decided to exit stage left, a couple chased, I only took about one or two steps, stopped and back kicked the closest. The other decided one on one was too dangerous and backed off lucky for me. I walked away and none of the scum tried to chase or follow. If it happened again today I might end up a bloody pulp but I would go down fighting. Mainly I just avoid places and situations that mean trouble.

Without experience with 4 on 1 kumite that probably would have had a very different outcome.

I have 2 dui's unfortunately. Nah I'd join the navy or the air force. We're in "peace time" I would love to be a pilot or just someone that can fix an airplane. Or a ship. I'm still amazed as I live by the coast how the fuck do you get a mostly steel warship to float. It boggles my mind and fascinates me.

Engineering would be my ultimate goal as hardly anyone gets to operate. But it would be a fascinating thing to learn anyway I think.

Well I don't put myself in those situations now that I don't have back up. Back in the day it would be 4 on 4 easy. We would absolutely beat the fuck out of anyone that even said a word about me. I dunno why they cared so much most people think i'm gay.

I would never be the first to hit my friends would and I would absolutely beat my opponent and support medic. Everyone just stop for a minute you're all getting stupid. We're not trying to hurt these people over me. I've always been a support character mostly. I personally don't like fighting but i'm good at it. I can hold back a girls hair while she's throwing up crieing. I'm the oldest of 4 so that's just sort of my job.

With other people it's not parents grounding you. It's the fucking police. If you don't want to go to jail shut the fuck up.

Out in my small town there's almost no crime.  I learned about the knife in Iraq War reading Modern Army Combatives.
I like Kron Gracie in MMA.  He has BJJ reflexes.  He automatically does the best BJJ without even thinking about it.  I enjoyed watching his fights.

That is the best plan, keep out of potential situations. When I thought back on it I could have avoided the whole thing by using some sense. But being young and reckless I got myself into it.

I'm good at what I do. I got taught the art of deflection and control. I'm still waiting for someone to beat me at it. Doesn't matter how big most of them i'm half they're size. You're done. I want to be beat me that's the problem.

Wrestling I had this kid slam the mat crying. And I just told him I want you to beat me but I will not let you. I had the same kids make me drop weight. Puke my guts out jerk off. I could have been a state champ. But I was so weak that i just wanted to give up.

It's where I get my anorexia from.

Dropping a natural 119 to 112. God that sucks. How dare I eat. How dare I do anything beside run. God that sucked so hard.

From a service man he head butted me as I brought the only girl. Lifted me off the ground by my neck. for grabbing a beer. I dunno why you're so mad at me  I kicked him straight in the balls as that's the only way he wasn't going to kill me. And both girls left in my car. So I'm not really that jealous of military lifestyle. They're fucking assholes always. Creeps.

I still have that scar. I like to tell women I was fighting bears.

I was gushing blood. Know when to run if you don't have back up.
