Yea dude. I've never been one to fight.
Shit, it's been over a decade since I've actually been in a fight.

The training as you mentioned it though it truly amazing.

Again, best results in the shortest amount of time compared to every other form of training and/or lifting that I've done in the past.

The training was pretty brutal when I did kickboxing, they really demanded a lot
Thats how I got serious about yoga and fitness in general, should have stayed longer

I've got some pretty good patella tendon sensitivity/pain going on most days. Would that be an issue and/or prevent me from training in BJJ?

No. It's just a bad case of runner's/jumper's knee. squatting and kneeling on the knee is painful.

It all comes down to the athlete and their training.

Pretty obvious.

Reached the same consensus. I fought a lot as a kid. My body doesn't heal half as fast as it used to. When I see 2 grown adults fighting I will totally watch but all I can really do is

I've had bro douchebags try and fight me for accidentally hitting on there girl or they bump my shoulder and I apologize. I'm not looking for trouble. I'm just here for a good time. walk away.

I wish I could meet a group of people that wrestled back in the past. The art of control is what I call it. I'm sloppy and I smoke too many cigarettes but I can throw someone around that's twice my size just using there own momentum.

I'd love to practice it's something I found joy in. I was taught pretty well. And I have a natural predisposition for it. Teach me how to control bigger people.

It's fast twitch muscle over slow twitch (lifting) I never really looked big at that time of my life I was a tall lanky 135. I'd throw our 215 pounder like it was nothing. Control control control. The art of deflection and control. I don't have to lift you you're momentum does it for me.

I was a take down artist. I will hit you in the back of the head. Than your on the floor. Freestyle was my time to shine. But at the end of my career I loved the more grecco approach. Fucking throwing people around. That shit was fun I've tossed someone several feet just because I could. That shit is fun as fuck. I gained no advantage in the match it was just funny as shit to me. Back to freestyle and ground game.

I was a leg rider as my coach was and I made him teach me it. I tech'd people constantly (win by 15 points) Good times.

I look at training method and yield.  MMA is rough and doesn't produce the best fighters.  They have no idea how to deal with weapons or multiple opponents.

A good buddy of mine. Well his name is budde. Was the best of fighters. He was the best I couldn't beat him his hands are like vice grips.

He got jumped by 6 people and ended up having a broken jaw for 6 months. I was shocked to hear than I heard it was a jumping. That makes sense he's a state champ and muscular as fuck. What shitty people he could punk any one of them one on one.

The story goes he accidentally hit on someones girl not knowing that she was claimed. Happens. If it takes you and 5 other homies to go up to him you're just a pussy. Most of them went to jail for assault and payed all his medical bills.

Fighting multiple opponents is a skill by itself. First you learn basics, learn to spar then learn sparing against many at once. I've talked to karate people who did not believe it could be done and yet if you look at their kata it seems to be meant for that. They fight in one direction, turn and do some other moves, I pointed that out to the head black belt at a school and he said maybe it was one opponent who moved around really fast, lol. I mean literally you did strikes to the front, then a back kick, then more toward the front. Did the guy in front run around to the back in a split second? No.

But even if you do those katas you need to practice against multiple opponents. I was attacked by a group and held my own. Its partly psychological, if you think you can't possibly win you may give up. Gangs love to beat on someone who gives up, kick them when they are down etc. Always fight back but better yet keep out of trouble.

The best way to fight a group of people is to run.

If thats not possible its to attack one of the group so rapidly and catastrophically with such decisive violence that the rest of the group has to attend to saving their friend so he doesnt die and / or are too shocked and intimidated to want more fight. Regardless, you want to destroy one enemy fast then Sprint away as fast as you can and not look back.

And again only destroy the one opponent if he is between you and escape.  never stand and try to fight multiple opponents. The only one you kill is the one between you and the door/exit.

With judo take downs you can drop someone and run before they recover from their head hitting the ground. Just dont go down with him and end up in a tangle. A leg sweep or hip throw drops them down, possibly concussing or even killing them as the back of the skull crashes into concrete, and you run.

Anyone left has to decide between trying to scoop the brains back into their guy's skull or chase you.

My friend wouldn't give up. He explained that he knocked 2 of them out even after his jaw was broken. It just wouldn't stop and they were coming from all sides. Than he ran to the hospital. Drank nothing but chicken broth for 6 months.

I've never been involved in a jumping but i've seen them happen. I like to fight one on one. Be a man about it.

This one kid and I beat the shit out of each other and we told both of our groups of friends to stay out of it. I dunno why we didn't like each other we just did. Afterwards we shook hands and both spit out a mouthful of blood. We were never friends afterwards but we had mutual respect for each other. If I saw him being jumped I'd totally jump in and sock the closest person in the mouth.

It was a good match though damn near half the school showed up to the soccer park to watch.

That's not how you fight multiple opponents with weapons.  Silat/escrima has the best yield for martial arts.  MMA fighters get pounded needlessly.  Karate is designed for multiple opponents.  Most martial arts address it at some point.

You dont fight multiple opponents, with or without weapons, you run and escape.

Only a complete moron would willingly choose to fight multiple armed opponents with his martial arts skills and empty hands. That kind of thinking comes from watching too many kung fu movies instead of training in a real fight gym.

Obviously in that situation you run.

The best thing to study to learn real tactical combat situations including weapons is Krav Maga. No question.

The best possible fight training is MMA + krav maga. MMA covers all aspects of unarmed combat and krav maga covers tactics and techniques when knives , pistols or bats come into it.

You can't always run.  Why would you want to study MMA if you're just going to use Krav Maga in the fight?

I'm sure Krav Maga is fine, but I like the yield of silat and escrima.  It's much older and time tested.

Bingo. I just run I know when I'm at the losing end of a battle and i've never been jumped. It's not worth my time to be but I almost have and my friend sat in my lap that had more sway over the 30+ plus people that we're swinging at me. He took a couple punches and I was just trying to break up a fight and get everyone to be chill. He's still a good friend to this day. He saved my ass that night. I'll never forget it.

It's why I don't go out much anymore as I left my home. What if I got into an altercation from hitting on a pretty girl that didn't have a dudes name stamped on her forehead?  and have no back up. That's how jumpings happen. We didn't love to fight but the rich kids did so our group would absolutely beat there ass. I always knew someone had my back. That's a feeling that I miss most about home.

My school has the real training.  Watch out for schools that don't have the real training or that only teach indoor students.  I know authentic military martial arts using weapons as well as civilian style.
