Why would you ban them from sports instead of letting them have their own league? come on now this is a no brainer.

You cant ban a human being from athletic competition, its wrong. You also cant allow a person born as a man to compete with people born as a woman, its wrong.

Therefore, you let M to F transgender people compete with other M to F transgender people, F to M compete with other F to M, and Cys males compete with other cys males and cys females with other cys females.

Transgender is a whole tangle of hyper complex issues, but this one has a very simple logical and ethical solution.

M to F transgender is a different category than Female, and F to M a different category than male. Their are biological , anatomical, hormonal and genetic differences between a transgender male and a cys male or a transgender female and a cys female, and because of those differences there can be no true fairness in competition.

Simple solution, recognize that we have four categories here and not two and allow four separate leagues of play.

Everybody is allowed to play, and everyone is entitled to fair competition. The best way to ensure both of these is for there to be separate M to F and F to M transgender leagues.

Who funds these leagues?

Where do all these trans people come from?

Do you think a town of 20,000 is going to have enough trans people to start two separate basketball leagues on top of regular boys and girls leagues and age demarcations as well?

What about the stages of transition? When is it complete?

Anyway there is definitely some sports men and women both can compete in. Obviously contact sports shouldn't be one. Though it also depends on age group. Pre-puberty there's not a huge anatomical difference. I know a girl that played tackle football at my elementary school. They ended up making her QB because her throw was so accurate.


In professional world... Why not have a free for all? I don't know about MMA but :ohwell:


The difficult leagues here is highschool and college age. What should public schools do? not allow a perfectly capable person from joining because they were born a different gender? it might not be discrimination but it isn't really fair. A huge part of most kids lives in school revolves around sports.

I dunno. You can set up rules that disqualifies them for title matches or something I guess but I don't think it's fair to totally ban them from the sport.

They tried that already. What they found is that the physiological differences between women and men are so great that they require different categories for most sports.

Men (as mentioned) have more bone density, more muscle mass.. 30% more on average, much stronger upper bodies. thicker skin, different levels of hormones (obviously) among other things. Men's center of balance is more in their shoulders. Women are much better balanced than men on average (center of gravity is center around hips), they are much more flexible, different skeletal structure - wider hips, longer trunk, shorter legs, among many many other things. We excel at different things. Men are stronger and faster and so have the advantage in most sports that are centered around that. It's why women's running and swimming is consistently ~10% slower than men's. Men are better at kicking, hitting and throwing things farther. Balance is one area women have a major advantage over men and this is why virtually every single olympic gymnast is a girl. Women also have better endurance on average, so endurance races are one of the few areas where women and men compete together because women can beat men in that area. Other than that, the sexes are separate in sports, because that's the fair way to do it.

That's not to say there can't be exceptions for all of those "rules"... there are. But ON AVERAGE.. these are the facts. Men are bigger and stronger. Women are more agile and better balanced. They can compete in a few sports together, but mostly.. they need to be separated from the other sex to make it fair.

I don't know if I'd call it a sport but gymnastics and dance and cheerleading are a few examples of 'sports' where we already have men and women 'play' together. Because they are organized into different roles. Men are in roles that take advantage of their strength and women are in roles that take advantage of their agility and flexibility.

Which is exactly why I said some sports.

And it also depends on the league. You'd never have men playing softball with women in any college or professional league but there are casual softball leagues all over the country that allow both. Why? Because they aren't professionals. They aren't aiming to be professional. Those percentages don't mean all that much when you take out the primary components of competition and start talking about the general public. Not to say casual leagues don't have prizes and trophies but it's not about winning it's about playing and having fun and being healthy. Which is probably what pre-college sports should be to begin with. An activity for kids to go and have fun and not be ruining their lives getting wasted and having car accidents and shit.

But we are a hyper-competitive country that is obsessed with being able to claim we're the best at everything and conveniently ignore everything else so... dunno what else I could expect.
