Smashing Pumpkins, Audioslave, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, etc...

Anyone love this kind of music?

I mostly listen to EDM, but these bands are awesome. Just discovered Audioslave.

Also, what genre of rock is this?

pumpkins started out as grunge, then drifted into weird-pop-rock, and i haven't heard their last few albums, but i'm sure it's even weirder

Been listening to the Pumpkins all my life.  They were never grunge, but because they had angsty lyrics and distorted guitars in the 90's, they got lumped in with all the other bands that were unfortunate (or fortunate, depending on how you look at it) enough to be on the same radio stations as Nirvana.  If you can listen to them with a clean palate, with no comparison to Nirvana, you will really enjoy.  They are definitely their own thing.

The Smashing Pumpkins actually started in the 80's with a solid, psychedelic hard rock sound that was not very far removed from the sound Jane's Addiction had.  This is "Gish" era Pumpkins.  After that, they went for a more commercial appeal, but still managed to retain their own sound.  The early to mid 90's they put out Siamese Dream and their epic double album Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness.  Both great albums.  There was an EP between those called Pisces Iscariot which is awesome.  Near the end of the 90's/early 2000 they released Adore and Machina, which is where I stopped listening.  Adore is wonderful, but a huge change in direction...kinda Nine Inch Nails-ish.  Machina was okay.

They've had a few albums after that, but really the first 3: Gish, Siamese Dream, and Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness are their masterpieces.

Saw RHCP last weekend. I  timed my dose accordingly so that I was peaking right when they

came on. It was one of my favorite shows I have ever seen. Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and

Soundgarden are all good to. The singer of Soundgarden, Chris Cornell (RIP), is actually also

the singer for Audioslave.

Audioslave are mainly alternative rock.

Rhcp are mainly funk and rap rock.

But i don't like any of those bands any more, used to listen to them when i was younger but it was just a phase.

Smashing Pumpkins rule! In my opinion, light years ahead of nirvana and the rest of the 90s bands.
