Abandoned Lexus, should I strip it?

It's in font of my work, maybe a 2016-17 Lexus. Crashed to Fuck, completely totaled. Someone had it towed to this industrial-ish area and put a cover over it that has since blown off. It's been there a week and has a citation that it'll be towed away soon.

Now am wondering if I should yank the spare tire. The car is guaranteed to be junked, figure no one will lose out on a missing spare tire?

Police truck, parking enforcement just drove away from it for 2nd time. They're either gonna tow it soon or who knows. We're broke and could use even $200 from selling a spare tire but it's not worth getting arrested. Maybe will come back late when no ones around and if it looks chill will grab it real quick. Not worth risking my job n shit doing it now

I can't find any laws regarding taking shit from an abandoned vehicle. Is this even illegal?

also, you're not gonna get $200 for a spare.  one can buy a new rim/tire for $200 (or close to it, with a warranty) for a lexus.  i just bought a new 17" rim for $150 today, and that was an aftermarket rim

I think there is a law that if you steal something that is worth like $25 or more from a car than that counts as grand theft auto. Is it worth going to prison for a spare tire you can't use or even sell?

Just get a better job or ask your boss for more hours. Don't steal

I know you already decided against it but just for future reference...

It's already been said, but yeah if you're gonna strip some abandoned car for money, fuck the tires/wheels, take those last if you have room/time. Take the catalytic converters, battery and alternator. I dunno the layout of any Lexus engine but from my experiences (on several cars) the starter is always a huge pain in the ass to get to. Window regulators are something else you should probably grab and could be done quickly if you don't care about destroying the door panel. Just rip it the fuck off with a crowbar or something :lol: there's usually only like 2-3 bolts holding the regulator in the door frame. Some of them, even used can go for 100+ each.

I wouldn't do it personally, and not just because I'm paranoid I'd get caught. But if you're gonna do something, do it right.

U should totally strip it, but have some friends to stand guard to warn u of cops coming. U might be able to walk away without trouble.

yeah take all you can without getting caught.  then torch it and buy it at auction super cheap so you can sell the rest for scrap.

The airbags (Doors,dash,steering wheel) are worth bank. Just don't get hurt removeing them. Make sure you get all the plug n play type hardware. Follow the wires (Gently) to the control unit. Dont cut anything that can be unclipped. If you must clip wires. cut in a way you get both connectors at wire junctions. The better they are intact, the higher price they fetch.
