Insulin potentiates LSD?!

DISCLAIMER: insulin in a non diabetic person may cause hypoglycemia, leading to loss of consciousness, coma, brain damages and even death. Don't try this at home, this is for research purposes only!!!


Hi all, just found some reference on Facebook that insulin may potentiate LSD:

"I found a reference to the clinical use, during the ‘60s, of little quantities of insulin that was given to the patients concurrently with LSD, with the aim to lower the blood sugars level, to potentiate the LSD effects. I never heard such thing. Somebody know something? News found in:

Buttherworth A.T., 1962, Some aspects of an office practice utilizing LSD 25, Psychiatric Quarterly, vol. 336: 734-53, p. 737."


The information was spread by probably the most influential expert on the topic in my country, anybody has any experience?

Insulin is measured in IU's..that's one of those small lines on an insulin syringe, non diabetic people have gone into a comatose state or died just because they misread a couple small lines or couldn't eat something fast enough. If you use more than just a couple IU's at most, you need to have a source of fast acting sugar within a certain time frame before you risk going hypoglycemic. Also depends on what kind of insulin you're using, I would think for a non diabetic, the OTC versions can be even more dangerous since you have multiple different time periods where you'll need to be around sugar. This would just be really fucking stupid to do. If you want to lower your blood sugar to potentiate some LSD...just eat no/low carbs for a few days beforehand.

don't bodybuilders take insulin to get swole as fuck? I think if you are smart about it you can do it and get away with it. doesn't sound healthy at all though

Honestly, i would consider taking TRT doses when I hit 40-50. Or even low dose GH. But insulin sounds sketchy af

Also; you could just take an extra tab of acid. The cost-benefit ratio here is silly. I would gladly pay a few bucks extra than take insulin

Yeah, that's why they're so huge now compared to 20-30 years ago. I know someone who  had a friend that used insulin to get big and he ended up having to speed down the road and steal a bunch of fruit juice at the nearest store to save his friend's life because he took too much insulin and started getting incoherent, slurring his words and losing his vision, so he was on the verge of possibly going into a coma or dying.

This isn't about releasing your own insulin, it's about using exogenous insulin to lower blood sugar.

That's been the biggest question to me about this thread... Just why? From what I've been told DMT or Nitrous at the peak of an LSD trip pretty much puts you in a whole new realm a reality.

thats retarded. unless I was an actor or my physique/appearance was a part of my occupation I don't see why I would take it

Being hypoglycemic is already kind of an altered state. I wouldn't call it fun or anything though. I'm a diabetic and I've had low BG with LSA from morning glory seeds, and I've had it during a shroom trip. It sucked both times, and I spent a a memorable chunk of both trips drinking soda and checking my blood sugar while hallucinating. I can't really say whether or not it made me trip harder, but I can definitely say that it did suck.

Hypoglycemia has a sort of adrenaline rush that goes with it, and your brain also gradually stops working correctly due to lack of fuel. the altered state has a feeling of a sort of panicked confusion mixed with stupidity (low working memory mostly) and a desperate drive to eat something sweet. There's also a lot of sudden emotional fluctuations that go on, and you get less stable as the BG drops. Oh yeah, and there's a sort of feeling of impending doom as the BG continues to drop too. All of these symptoms get worse as the BG level drops, and if the BG level drops too far down, then the brain becomes pretty dysfunctional and you stop forming memories right before you have a grand mal seizure. All in all it's a bad time, and the altered state from hypoglycemia is not fun even well above the seizure level.
