WBS
    #2425471 - 03/12/04 11:15 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I got some WBS today at walmart. It is "TopCrop" brand, and contains no crushed corn. The only thing is it says no where if it has been treated with fungicide or not... this is my main concern, as I'd hate to do up some jars only to discover a week after innoculation that my seed was treated with fungicide. =\ Is there any way to tell? Has anyone used this brand with success in the past?

Ingrediants:
White Prosso Millet
Wheat
Milo (sorghum)
Black oil sunflour
Peanuts

Intending on:

1. Rinsing seed in colander very well
2. Simmering the seed for 45 minutes.
3. Letting drain and dry in the colander for 30 minutes.
4. Loading 1 litre jars up to 60% capacity, and covering with polyfilled covers.
5. Covering Tops of Jars and Polyfill with aluminum foil.
6. Pressure Cooking for 60 minutes @ 15psi.
7. Waiting for pressure to drop, and letting jars sit in a clean box overnight.
8. Innoculating with spores through the polyfill.

If theres anything you think I should change in the process I'm intending on, lemme know  This is my first time with WBS, and I can hardly wait to dive in!

if it was cheap as fuck, then most likely it wasnt treated.

make sure you soak the seeds for at least 12 hours, drain well, then use

You think id be better off letting it soak than simmering? Any real advantage?

Soaking for 12 - 24 hours gets any of the germs in the seeds to germinate, therefore when you PC, you can be 100% sure basically that everything is killed. I've heard about simmering, but never tried it. Soaking seems most popular.

Yah, just buy the cheapest WBS available.

Good stuff.

I'm no pro at WBS yet, but its proving to be quite promising...faster colonizations, better nutrients = better yields, etc etc. Def better than PF Tek, ha! pf tek...now that I think of it, why did I even waste my time? haha
