WBS...fungicide?
    #1638880 - 06/17/03 04:33 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

well...i tried out some millet jars using 6T's tek and all was going so smoothly or so i thought
BUT
its been about 4 days since i innoculated 'em and still no sign of any colonization.
i followed the tek religiously
so i'm thinking the only thing it could be is that i got the wrong millet (stuff that had been treated with fungicide) does this sound about right?
anyway i was pretty certain it wouldn't have been treated...simply coz i got it so cheap down the local market but i'm a bit stumped as to what else it could be. could there be some other factor that i missed somewhere?
(in the meantime i'm going to try and find some thats clearly labeled as not treated!)
its no big stress as i only wasted a couple of quid on the stuff and i'm now familiar with the tek ..just wondering if anyone else has any experiences of no/slow colonization using this stuff.
thanks

Give it more time. Even if it has been treated it should usually work (slowly). They can't put enough fungicide in stuff to stop inoculation working, because it would become poisonous to eat.

In my experience with WBS, it's easy for it to dry out whilst PCing. This results in slow colonization and stalling in the dry areas.

I've waited a week for signs of colonization on WBS, and like he said ^^^ 'Give it time' - Good things come to those who wait.

You chose right by buying the cheap stuff. Some of the more expensive WBS are treated with fungicides.

cool.
only reason i'm asking at such an early stage is that i read somewhere that colonization with WBS is usually apparent within a couple of days.
i'll take what i read with a little more salt in future..thanks!
