Yeah, but just because some people misuse the quote doesn't mean it's not valid. Even bacteria are too complex to have been generated by random chance from nothing in 600 million years. The idea of a creator isn't incompatible with evolution as some of you guys are saying; personally, I believe in Terence's teleological attractor theory, which definitely refers to an intelligently created object while completely agreeing with the theory of evolution.

The Cosmic Serpent: DNA and the Origins of Knowledge.  Great book I've read it twice.  It also mentions Crick and his thoughts on the origin of DNA.
