Growing Lithops
    #24029614 - 01/22/17 03:30 AM (7 years, 8 days ago)

Does anyone here grow them at all?

I set some seed going last spring, and there's maybe 12 little lithops still alive. But I believe there's more to watering regime than cactus etc. Just looking for any pointers or tips if anyone has grown them successfully here please? I'm growing them indoors.

I really don't want to kill them! Lol

Our lithops are on the north east window, slow growers but quite interesting.

More succulent than cactus.

Do you use a special soil/stone mix for them at all?
I popped mine in some soil stones pumice and mixed it, tried not to add too much soil. First time growing them though just want to keep them alive haha

Same mix as for cacti (mineral) and keep them growing through their first winter if you can. I wish I could tell you more, but although I've grown quite a few from seed for the past few years I still don't feel confident enough to pass on knowledge. :frown:

Haha no worries!
I planted them in spring, and they're alive still :awesome: so I'm hopeful haha
They're under my light with seedlings just now, only very small still ATM though.
I set some bunny ears as well, they also seem to be alive, well lost some but most are still going haha
