That sounds like a good idea, and I've gotten the green mold more than once now (which is too many time already). I'mm gonna try that, thanks for the tip.

Everything below came to me in a dream and does not relate to actual events:

Just as an update I had done this tek a few minutes before I wrote that post, and the casing I did it on if nice and healthy now, I think I even see a pin forming in the area where I put new casing soil in.
