A foaf has a few casings that have developed a spot or 2 of green mold. Healthy mycelium all around it, the green was removed carefully then the casing was sprinkled w/ baking soda. Will this work? Is it safe to get shrooms from it if it recovers? They are a couple thai casings in sterilite w/perlite,corn cob myc spawned onto straw and composted soil.( soil that was under pile of horse dung for years )

Never had to deal with green mold, but from all I heard here, you are in a bad place. I think, what I heard was that once you actually see the green mold, it's already developed a network throughout the casing--so getting rid of it is extremely hard. I say, be ruthless and give it your best shot, but don't count on it. I don't know if they would be safe to eat, however.....

Just got back from checking the casing w/ green mold.Like I said the 1 spot was removed then sprayed w/10% peroxide water mix, then a few days later sprinkled w/baking soda its been 5 days and no green has shown itself yet. This is an experiment but I was wondering if shrooms would be safe to eat? Anyone else have any experience w/ this?
