How long does it take you to actually fully wake up and be functional?

Takes me like 4 hours. It's crazy. I get up about 8am like a retard and by midday I'm all energetic and alive.
But why does it take so long?
Any way to speed it up?
Coffee doesn't really do it. Energy drinks make it kinda worse.

Other than drugs, I don't think there's any way to speed it up. I think this has more to do with your daily activities than anything else. For example: diet, exercise, proper nutrition intake, social interaction, recreation time, work and school schedule, mood etc. It's pretty terrible. At times it can be hard for me to get up, and when I am up I have a lack of a drive to do anything at all. Something that helps is being forced to be somewhere. For example having to go to class in the morning will wake me up quicker than lounging around the house during an off day.

I wake up at around 8am at 20% brainpower, then spend 15-60 minutes in bed on my phone indulging my lazy side by browsing reddit, until I reach >40%. I call this the engine warm-up. Eat breakfast/make lunch; food in belly results in >50%.
I become 60% when I put my contacts in. My bike to work gets the blood flowing up to 75%. I really don't reach more than that until about 10:30am. Brainpower peaks twice, at about 2pm and at 8pm.
So in total, 2.5 hrs.

Idk what it is about me..but I almost always wake up ready to go, and seem able to function on minimal sleep. I can go to bed at 5 a.m., wake up at 8 and still feel fine.

I can be out the door in under five minutes after waking up, but it takes a good 30-60 minutes for me to be able to handle people without being a complete dick.

The first 10 minutes after waking up I am exceptionally stupid and make real dumb decisions, like going back to bed then sleeping in
Once I beat that urge, I feel about the way I'll feel throughout the day

It's all depending.
My use of weed and benzos keep me lethargic usually, making esoecially groggy mornings.
But usually once I get over that barrier of not wanting to get up or do something, i start functioning well quickly.
Also depends on my sleep and diet as well.
If I dont sleep well or long, i'm useless all day but normally I have more energy at night

I'm the same too most of the time unless I am really exhausted.
Once I'm up I can be ready to go. Even on a few hours of sleep.

anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours. i'd say 1.5-2 hours is a good average. occasionally i wake up and am on-it-ready-to-go, but not normally. as well, i don't get consistent/regular sleep. some nites it's 7 hours, some nites 3 hours, some nites 12 hours. over 8 hours of sleep seems to increase the time it takes me to "wake up" and get moving in the mornings.

I hit the dirt running. As soon as the first cup of coffee is in me, morning is my most productive time. Filling out forms, studying, whatever. I usually take 2 hours to get out the door because I make good use of the time first thing in the morning.

~1 hour before I can be functional in any way that doesn't involve being on autopilot.

i generally use the first period of time to do small stuff like clean or cook or do any paperwork/organizing. anything that doesn't require in-depth thought or extreme physical activity. but i don't generally consider those things as "functional" as i would hiking up and down hills and/or running a saw or whatever odd job i might happen to be working that day

If I have the choice, I don't do anything for the first part of the day (like on my days off), but for work I can be working in 5-10 minutes just fine. It's just not what I would chose to do on my off time. If I have a day off, the first half is usually just me getting high and reading stuff.

Yeah I think it also depends on when you wake up and how long you've been sleeping. Sometimes I will wake up earlier than I planned to get out of bed and know that if I had to, I could get up rather easily and be functional. However, if I choose not to get up and go back to bed, it'll be harder to get up later.

How I feel for the first couple hours of waking is highly variable depending on: How much sleep I got (duh) What point in my sleep cycle I was woken from (getting forced away from deep sleep or during REM sucks balls for the rest of the day How much light I got the daytime How dark it was while I slept

Thanks for the responses. I'm getting better at it, part of it is realising I ruminate on wrong ideas when I'm even slightly down, making me more down. Then partly why I wake up at noon is by noon I sort of get bored of doing it. Ha
