What do they smell like?? In my opinon dried mushrooms don't exactly smell good but they don't smell terrible either. They should smell slightly mushroomy and by no means should they smell fermented or rotten. If you've never smelled dried mushrooms, I would suggest you find some to compare yours to, so you can put your worries to rest.

I personally think mushrooms dried in a desicant chamber(like mine) smell like shit. very very bad. the taste sucks too. fan dried smell and taste better in my opinion. other may very.

My uncle just got done with his first batch of *portabella* mushrooms. He dried the first half of the yield with dessicant and he found that sometimes the dessicant wouldnt work too well, especially with a lot of mushrooms in there at once. He found the best way to dry was to dry on a fan overnight, then put in the dessicant chamber. This he found to be quicker and produce better looking dried shrooms. Just my uncles opinion, of course.
