Ongoing Millitary Coup in Turkey

Apparently not as big news as the truck attack though scanning US media....
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/15/turkey-low-flying-jets-and-gunfire-heard-in-ankara1/
Turkey has declared martial law, Istanbul has been isolated and shut down to outside traffic, all airports closed, tanks on the street, jets flying overhead.... shit's going down, facebook, twitter, and other social media blocked, clashes between police and military, and Erodgan says everythings okay....

Seems like bigger news. Every cable outlet is on it, even the financial ones.

This is possibly a good thing. Erdoghan was supporting both ISIS and Al-Qaeda linked militants in Syria. He was also personally profiting billions of $$$ off stolen oil from Daesh while at the same time waging a civil war in his own country against the Kurds, and even risked war with Russia by shooting down their plane. He was a madman, plain and simple.
If the new government in Turkey is sane and pursues a policy of peace, it could completely change the situation in Syria ... especially if Turkey finally stops supporting the jihadist terrorist groups.
Wow, this is some serious shit.
Hoping for the best.

I'm hoping that those are the actions the army is rebelling against and that the outcome is positive as well...
However it's such a delicate situation it's hard to say. If it becomes too prolonged it may see an influx of foreign fighters and an immense complication of the situation akin to Syria.... and if any sort of civil war flares up in Turkey the ensuing humanitarian crisis will make Syria look like nothing whatsoever, and thus in turn probably further fuel right wing isolation/nationalist sentiments in Europe.

What an interesting time we live in.
It seems the world has gone to shit since Obama took over... Russia stole Crimea. ISIS surged, European countries are building fences around each other to stop immigration rom Syria. The UK bailed on the EU, North Korea became a nuclear power, Iran got offered a an amazing deal, now the Turkish military is pulling the plug on the government...
And here I thought the US presence around the world was supposed to keep the world "stable". Too much inaction from the President.

Oh yeah, it was all super dandy with bush and 9/11, afganistan & iraq invasions, and the global economic depression
Maybe look at how one thing actually leads to another? Shit happening 60 years ago and everything inbetween has set the stage for what's happening today. No single actor can come close to claiming responsibility.

11:07pm Boris Johnson: 'very concerned by events in Turkey' Britain's new Foreign Secretary tweets:
Mr Johnson's great-grandfather was an opposition figure in the late Ottoman period, who was lynched during Turkey's War of Independence in the early 1920s.

It's possible. But I would doubt it, they aren't poised to win that war.
