Straw Question

I'm just beginning to work with straw again and as I was cutting up my straw I noticed that there alot more of these little seed pods in it than last time. It's the same kind of straw. I even bought it at the same time as the last bail.

How worried should I be about picking this stuff out?

hey, i have this bail of straw out in my green house, it is golden brown and has been there for a couple of months, i use it to insulate the faucets and what not, i dont know if it is wheat straw or no,t i believe it is just regular straw. do you think this would be ok if i did the correct pasteurizing procedures? Thanks for the info!

regular straw is usally wheat or barly

I dont pick the wheat out of my straw and ive never had a problem. I might from time to time if i see a large clump toss that aside but its not worth getting every bit out.

that dont look like the right kind of straw sorry
go to a craft store like Michales or ben franklins or something like that and ask for straw they should have it find it thier all the time
