I guess you're right.

I thought it was noble of you not to want to relive your life and that u thought u already had a good life and are satisfied.

But by traveling back in time, you're son will "die" in a way cause youre 3 again. Its a lose-lose situation.

Here in metal, metal land
Every day is night
Except of course when night is day
But then there is no light

Here in metal, metal land
Everything is rock
Everyone is in a band
Ever girl sucks every cock

Here in metal, metal land
Everything is hard
Except of course the test you take
To get a license for your car

Bullet belts and denim jackets
Crystal meth in tiny packets
Witches, warlocks, demon seed
Booze and cooze and weed and speed

You misunderstood.

Im just being super critical of myself but i must do it to cover all basis. While on one level its noble and brave...it is also childish because its based on fear, though.

it all depends on the person and the mood, i guess.

but its a decision i would be force to make because its too good of an opportunity to pass up.

i don't see the dilemma

if the nukes have already been launched, i as an individual have no way to stop this--whether i decide to stay or leave will have absolutely zero effect on anyone else (except perhaps those who are in my immediate vicinity may spend their ten last pre-explosion seconds wondering what exactly just happened)

so the only real dilemma is whether i am more afraid of certain death or the unknown variable--for me, this is already an obvious decision--and i feel that in the moment this will be an easy split second decision for anyone (although definitely one that will vary from person to person) rather than some sort of imponderable

to be honest, i don't even think i would consider it abandoning your son, as his death would be imminent regardless of the decision you make

and really, as i illustrated above, i think either choice would be spurred by fear--for you, fear of a drawn out death; for me, fear of a certain ending--you still managed to purvey your decision so eloquently i almost wanted to change my own

OK, for most people we are now on page 2 so I';m going to break it to you all: ITS A TRAP and 3/4 of you fell for it!

FUCK ANYTHING THE SO CALLED "OTHER YOU" SAYS!

If you grab that hand, there is a risk, the probability of which we cannot know, that you enter a time loop of exactly the same events, between 3 years old and now, that repeats itself infinitely.

Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Not a thousand times, not a million or billion times, an infinite number of times, exactly the same, forever disconnected from birth or death and whatever comes after death. Death we fear like nothing.. but wouldn't this very possibly be a fate worse than death?

Think about it, forever and ever and ever, a tight closed loop of exactly the same, cut off from the whole universe but those mere few decades, from that point of view, over and over, no breaks, no salvation, a broken record stuck in time.

That risk, the risk that THAT ATROCITY might be your eternal fate, no matter how great or small the risk or no matter how happy your life has been, that risk of eternal stagnance is so menacing that there is ONLY ONE RIGHT ANSWER and that is to choose death, to let the nuke do its thing and the universe do its thing with you thereafter.

So far only Bill and I and one opt-out chose that answer. We'll see how the poll progresses.

When my Spirit Guide posed that question I chose death instinctively, and then I found out what the catch was. He then went on to teach: "There is only one eternal loop and that is the totality of everything, all other loops sooner or later break and spill you out into the rest of the universe, but you could have been in there for an extremely long time, causing your spirit an anguish your human mind cannot fathom. Think of death as restful sleep and your spirit having to go through many many lifetimes of hard work without even a second of sleep and no way to give up."

Guys, my apologies for setting a trap like that, even hypothetically

I mean, yeah, why not. The worst that could happen is this goes all groundhog 27 years, not a catchy title but you get the idea. I find that a bit less threatening than the prospect of nuclear annihilation

What would you choose Zappa?

I choose death. Let me tell you why.

I was always afraid of the manner in which i will die. Being aware that my death will come instantly and with no pain through a nuclear strike is nothing short of a miracle. A painless death? I cant pass that up. No way.

This can easily be accomplished with a shotgun or massive drug overdose.

Asante am I going to be 3 years old in 1959 or 3 years old in 2016?  Who will my parents be if the latter?  What of my sisters and brother?

Yeah and when it comes and takes me then so be it. I do and have engaged in some very high risk behaviours.  I've had bad experiences. I've have met some great people. Most of the time I try to do what I feel is right. I'm not always right in fact I'm often wrong and I'm like OK let's fix it.

Don't do this or that or blah . Those Sons of bitches keep on dying and I'm still here looking like I did in highschool just with more mass. And confidence .

You will be transported back to the exact moment in time when you blew out the 3 candles on your birthday cake, what happens next is anyones guess. So, 1959 with all the same family and no memories of for instance buying Microsoft and Google stock before it was cool

You will be put back exactly in a second of your third birthday, what happens then is interesting discussion foddder, it would depend on how the universe and reality  works.
