Morning pictures. Noob question, I'm sure you guys have answered a thousand similar.
On the first cake, referring to the three white 'bumps' on the top, are those 'knots' forming, mycelium striving for oxygen, or just simple mycelium growth?

First pic is fine. I'm more concerned with the last 3. More specifically the polyfil in it. It's like a cross between mono and sgfc lol

oh true, i didnt even notice. hmm. not the first SGFC/mono thing i have seen a new user show a pic of, though. why do you think more people are stating to mix those two? just misunderstanding and mixing the tek?

Hey guys, great help so far.

I moved my cake FC into my closet after acquiring a shelf. Also took the advice and made it more into a SGFC. Have goon mycelium growth on a few of the cakes, but no pinning yet. One of them was turning blue at the tips of mycelium from lack of H20, misting way more frequently now; Typically about 5-10 times per 24 hour period.
So yea, that's that. Don't really have much hope for the cakes anymore.

Anyways, I mixed some cakes in with a coir/verm mix and cased with Jiffy mix. Made A monotube, but think the holes are a little small. I'll post pictures later for advice, as for now they're still taped off.
I birthed/mixed whatever Sunday, 5 days ago. Was planning on waiting until day 10 to open and introduce fruiting, but had to move it out of the closet today to put a shelf in so I peaked.
I noticed some mycelium growth spiking up but my concern was what these little guys were? I'm assuming just some random seedlings that was mixed in with the Jiffy mix by accident? I pulled them out of there.. Here's some jumbled pictures.

I apologize for the bad writing structure and unorganized pictures, in somewhat of a hurry at the moment.

So, before I converted the tub to more of a SGFC a good amount of what seems to be aerial mycelium built up on two of the cakes. Still growing a little since I converted the tub, but definitely slowed down on making the 'spikes'.

These two guys look like primordium, no?

Anything I should be watching for on the pins? Color, shape, size, etc? How do I prevent aborts?
I've seen lots of contradicting information on this site about the cause for aborts and how to prevent aborts.
What are some opinions from experience on the usual cause of aborts?

My cakes seem do be doing decent, except for one. Oddly, if I remember correctly this was the jar the colonized the fastest and looked to be in the best shape. The cake always feels drier than the rest, and it was the first/only to get some dehydration bruising. The only thing it has produced is this one guy, which seems to be an abort. Very black cap and I haven't noticed too much growth the past few days. What went wrong with this cake?
