Hitchhiking / Backpacking cross-country * 1
    #23120972 -

The time is drawing real close, I've been waiting to make this trip for a few months.
Last trip ended with an injured foot, so hopefully this one goes better.

Anyone else traveling on foot or looking to do so?

I have the same sleeping pad, yay.

Watch out for cops, its basically illegal being homeless these days. Cops will harass you non stop if you aren't smart about how you maneuver around. Actually, im just assuming you are American. Maybe you live in a more liberal country.

If you find yourself in southern california, look me up.

That's actually my old pack, replaced everything from the pack itself, pad, sleeping bag, to the guitar.

We'll see about the coppers, I dealt with a lot of that back in the day and was arrested twice on my first trip (as a minor). Its been a long time since they've given me any trouble, on my last trip a DT gave me a ride covering the last 15 miles back home, this was after I injured my foot.

What part of Cali man? I'll be passing through just North of LA and was considering a trip to San Diego at some point.

Thanks man, this will be my biggest trip by far so I've got the jitters.

This would be a good opportunity if you wanted to give it a run, two grown men wouldn't have much to worry about. If you play any instruments that would be a big plus

I'm being cornered into leaving early, so depending on circumstances there may be delays, but I wouldn't mind leaving early if there were some solid plans.
The only real issue with this timing is not having my new repertoire anywhere near ready

Have a ride from Ft.Lauderdale up to Tennessee, so technically will be leaving from Tennessee.

From there its:
Straight West on HWY 40

Destinations include: Sedona, Portland
Possibly: San Diego, LA, Colorado

Not really sure what's going to happen
Open to changes, first have to actually get my foot out the door

Sounds like an adventure but without pounds of weed I'd be bored. :rastamon:

Being bored is part of the process. But you get higher highs and lower lows on the road. At least the few months I was on the road.

OP, how was your last trip? Tell us about it. How long/places/etc

Who said you can't smoke on the road?
Won't be carrying outside of legal states, but will definitely be smoking.

If you're out busking its not unimaginable for weed to find its way to you.

I've only been hitchhiking twice so far, both trips were for a few days.
This trip will be the first big one.

Last time was in rural Washington state, there's not much to say about it except that it was beautiful. It was supposed to be an indefinite trip but I injured my foot early on. Learned a few lessons from that experience.
Would have hit the road again when my foot healed, but certain responsibilities came up, one event led to another and here we are again.

The other trip was in the bayou as a minor, there's a lot to say about it but I'd rather not

How about yourself?

Ah well. If you find yourself near Lafayette tn, go visit shut up and grow it farm. It's an awesome hub for travelers. I got a ride straight to Colorado from there and I know many that got rides elsewhere. Doesn't sound like you'll be near though

Someone recommended stopping there earlier and I may well do so.
It should be relatively close (about 50 miles off route).
