The Mushroom in Christian Art - images?
    #23042226 -

I just bought a copy of John Rush's The Mushroom in Christian Art. I was totally psyched to dive into it as this is a subject I'm going to pursue for my master's of art history studies. One thing: the included DVD is screwed. I can't get any of the images off of it or to even be viewed at all.

I'm wondering if anyone has a working copy of the disc and could be utterly amazing and upload them somewhere? I'm trying to find a copy of the images online first before returning the book because I bought it online and I don't want to go through all the hassle only to have the new copy also have a screwed up disc.

I can't help you with that because I don't have the book, but I can give you some other help. heard of Mike Crowley? He is soon to publish a book I want called Secret Drugs of Buddhism, and he has other VERY interesting books I want also
He recently sent me a paper about how the gods 'Krishna' and Shiva' and 'Dionysos' are really metaphorical personifications of psychedelic mushrooms. IF you search his facebook and join, and tell him what your doing he may send you some papers like he sent me. Of course ask him if it'd be alright to use them for quotes etc.

I'm not sure about this. I've done a lot of studying of Hinduism from the Gita and other texts delving into India's history & Gods.  Lord Krishna was God in human form, not a metaphorical personification of a mushroom. He was such a badass, I don't think a mushroom quiet fits him.
Same goes for Shiva, but I'm curious anyways. Could you forward me those if you have them in .pdf, please?

I actually joined the Hre Krishna temple when I was 17 !!! *I was hooked when walking about a city centre pissed off, and a devotee flashed a mag of their and the picture of Krishna with his flute looked very trippy, and then i got sucked into the cult. So I have been into the belly of the beast so to speak. The whole thang was to get to consciousness of krishna in everything, and they would illustrate this in their mags n stuff wit showing flute-playing krishna in a tree, a this, that, get me? IE it is just a metaphorical ways of saying all is Krishna. But they insisted 'he' was the 'Godhead' AND personal. And they'd have you chanting hare krishna hare krishne Hare Rama hare rama on these freekin beads over and over. The temple would look like a madhouse with devotees pacing up and down saying this over and over on their beads lol

Of course this was all absurd and literalist, and that is what happens when these myths amd religions are built around the 'god' who has lost identity with the original metaphor of a psychedelic fungi and now is presumed to be a 'godhead'

'Jesus ' also was part of this -read The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross by John Allegro. You can read it online too

I wont share his paper with you because I dont have his permission to. But I will give you his facbook and you can message him and let him know your interest and he may forward you the pdf like he did me. he is a friendly guy. he also does video talks, search his name at youtube
