Similiar problem as Satori1's
    #2289575 -

My amigo just read Satori1's post on early pinheads and i realized he has the same kind of problem.. He has got another question related to it though. First of all, hes got a good sized rubbermaid terrarium with 1.5 inch of perlite and about 1/2 distilled water. Condensation on the sides of the walls seem fine. He also has a heat pad under the rubermaid but it only covers about 3/4's of it. He just recently cold shocked 4 casings and then put them on the side of the terrarium that doesnt get too warm (about 79 degreez). Then he has 2 other casings still developing on the warm side (about 82-84 degreez). He has dark blue lids on the developing casings so that no light gets in as he is giving light to the other 4 casings. He just checked all of them today and saw that the 4 casings that he cold shocked a few days earlier have no pin heads at all, but the 2 casings that he was going to cold shock when they developed more of an even mycellium growth each have small pin heads forming... After reading Satori1's post he thinks that he should go ahead and take off the lids of the 2 casings w/ pin heads and fruit them. His main concern though is the other 4 casings and why they havent developed pin heads at all. Is it the difference in temps (he thought to have pinheads you need the temp to be in the high 70's, low 80's), should he move the 4 casings to the warmer side of the terrarium (84-85 degreez)? Thanks for the replies, and sorry for the big paragraph :P he just wanted to give alot of detail.

forgot to mention that a couple of the small perlite rocks somehow fell into a couple of the casings. Didnt want to risk damaging anything by reaching in w/ my fingers, but should those come out or should my friend leave them?

Are the strains in all those casings the same or different? And fruiting temperatures are 74-78 for fruiting. I beleive the cause for my early pinning was a combination of light which shined on it when it was looked at and a temperature dip at night to low 70s. Some strains fruit under less than optimum conditions, thats why i asked if the strains are the same.
Did your amigos casings develope pins while the casing was colonizing?
And as for the perlite which fell on the casing, if its not in mass quantities I would leave it becuase it won't cause any more harm than would be caused by picking it up with your fingers.

There are 2 different strains growing (3 casings of 1 strain, 3 casings of the other). The 2 casings that developed pins were both the same strain, hawaiian, but one of the other 4 casings, which are tasmanian, was of the same strain and has yet to develop pins. Ill turn down the heat to get it to 74-78. I was just thinking about it and could maybe the problem be that the two casings that were covered were had more rh within the casing because it was covered, so they developed pins earlier? My amigo checked how moist the perlite was and it was damp, but he measured a little less that a 1/4 inch of water that accumulated at the center. He added about another 12 oz of water which brought the water level at a litte over 1/4.
