What's everyone oppionion of the best grow chamber? I was looking a a fairly good sized rubermaid, biger would have been better, but it costed $60. For a big plastic tub, what's up with that?

a large aquarium would probably work better. i cant seem to find a good airtight lid for my rubbermaid container. if you know one id really like to know what it is.
hey, you got to be genuine thats the name of this game. if you're real, then you aint got nothing to worry about, but if youre synthetic then starting tomorrow you're balls come off!

A_C, why do you say an aquarium would be better? Does it have to do
with maybe the glass providing better insulation (or are you just
thinking out loud) Plastic containers are just fine, ive heard nothing
bad about them from the peoples pet monkeys or whatever that use
them. In NYC theres a chain of stores called ODD-JOB or ODD-LOT,
they stock alot of great stuff at almost wholesale prices; my mom
does gardening and she got a huge rubbermaid box with wheels and
a retractable handle for $20 (woulda paid 50 bucks or more at a
home depot etc.)

Rubbermaid-type containers are DEFINATELY better than AQUARIUMS. peace

If you can get your hands on two tupperware or rubbermaid containers, they will work better than anything else that I've tried. You just take them, put one right side up, and the other one on top, but upside down and fasten them at the back with some small hinges and a thin beed of caulk for extra strenght. That way you get good volume and a tight seal. If you want it really tigh, caulk it all the way around, wait till it dries, the cut it with an x-acto knife or scalpal as close to one of the conainers edges as possible, then it seals air tight every time. Dude, $60 is NOT what they cost. You should be looking for a simple clear containers (Target, Walmart, Orchard Supply Hardware etc.). They come in various sizes - I prefer 9in height. You want it to be *only* high enough so that your shrooms wont hit the ceiling: remember the larger the volume, the harder it will be to maintain a high humidity. With a 9 or even 12 inch high Rubbermaid, keeping humidity high is a breeze. All you need is a roll of insulation tape ($1.25) from the hardware store. It looks kind of like sponge. Line the inside of your lid with this tape so that it cusions between the lid and the bottom. This makes it harder to keep the lid down, so just place a couple heavy objects on top (preferrably at the corners). Rubbermaids are also perferct for mass growing as you can simply stack them on top of each other.
