Guys, just wanna let you know I'm sticking with Prometheus Rising,  even with the heavy trans-humanist vibe and all.

More important than the transhumanist leanings is the bare-bones theory of the eight circuit model itself.  Over the years I have actually come to differ with Wilson and Leary quite a bit on the interpretation of the evolution of the circuits and how they tie in with the future of the species.  Which one is of course free to do.

It's a very important book.

 yeah.

I have never read anything by Timothy Leary but I love his spiritedness. There was a pretty good video post in the mysticism forum of a public dialogue between him and Ram Dass a little while back. Pretty sure DQ knows the one. Anyway I actually enjoy his views, and his sense of humor. I know he was a bit of a techno-shaman but so was Terrence Mckenna and I still find him plain fun even after life has beaten most the fun out of me at this point.

There are some good ones....

The closest thing I think I have read to RAW is the Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges....It is like looking through a crystal and appreciating and gathering something from the fractured image with these guys. That's how I'd put it. A few people can seem to pull this kind of perspectivism off really well.

I'll be interested to follow the 8 circuit model and see where it goes. There is often a conventional "vehicle" to philosophy, and what is sometimes important is where it takes you.
I think I kind of get that. Sometimes there are tools and mednicines and they could well be brought to philosophy...Most of us were psychonauts before philosophers after all.

Anyway this is why I figure I gotta read through this. Appreciate the inspirations

The 8 circuit theory is more of a psychological model than a philosophical stance.  It describes 4 terrestrial states in which we all take imprints on, one is gonna take a heaviest imprint (be that oral, anal (social/territorial)  time-binding semantic (rational, this is where a lot of philosophers have taken a heavy imprint) and a socio-sexual imprint.  Like that's it for the average human, they take on these imprints in their early childhood through adolescence and then they grow up and have kids and die.

The 5-8th circuits have to do with higher states of consciousness, the 5th is basically being free of gravity, in the sense that nothing is weighing on your shoulders, you ligthen up and start to feel fucking great  It has to do with a lot of love and self-acceptance, it's basically the heart chakra in Indian thought, and drugs like marijuana and mdma seem to help turn it on.

The 6th circuit is like this neurocollective archive that is encoded in our dna, this is where the arechetypes come from when one perhaps takes mescaline or psilocybin mushrooms, all the mythic imagery one might encounter, green men or mescalitos and so on are no accident that myriads of people have seen such entities over the course of history. Their significance is interesting to consider, it's been speculated these green little fellows might signals sent from vegetative life that our minds create an image out of

The 7th Circuit is the metaprogramming circuit, which they say can be triggered by high doses of acid, it's essentially the brain becoming away of itself or alternatively consciousness becoming aware of itself....

and the 8th circuit just represents Pure Consciousness Experiences, what all the mystics gab about, high doses of dissociatives like Ketamine tend to bring about these states, but the universe being one interconnected indra's net of Cosmic Intelligence and things like that represent the highest states of consciousness.

It's a cool theory explaining some of the things that happen when taking mind altering chemicals and meditation and yoga etc.... Just remember it's a map, not the territory....

Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

The ability of psychedelics to alter my perception of things is the entire basis as to why philosophy rings a bell in my heart. (For me)To be able to analyze and critique and pull apart ideas, I usually have to try and look at the idea from another perspective. Playing devils advocate with myself often to force myself to realize there is always another angle, another subjective lens to view the objective through.
I believe these subjective lenses and objective reality can be likened to the shadows on the cave. Until you can turn to see the light, the shadows are your reality, and that is as valid as any other. It does not invalidate the light itself but it is very hard to realize it when you cannot look directly at it.

Certain medicines and deep levels of meditation can bring my consciousness to a certain place where it is easier for me to realize it is all filtered through the lens of experience and that there are infinite lenses and what holds true no matter what filter you apply is probably closest to objectivity I can strive for.
