I thought Django Unchained was really good.  I've heard mixed reviews from the Hateful 8 though, like it's way too long for the story they have.

I enjoy lots of movies that don't "blow my mind". I just don't think it's a good idea to encourage anti-white sentiments among blacks and white-guilt sentiments among whites at this point in time, and from what I hear about the movie, that's what it does.

Anyone watching the roadshow version? I cant pass up any FILM playing on 70mm FILM. Such a rare treat these days to watch quality film which is a FAR FAR FAR FAR better medium than digital.

The 70mm film was incredible. And I thought the movie was great lot of cat and mouse and who done its going on. Jackie brown is my favorite tarantino movie followed by kill bills. But having 2.5 hours of a 3 hour movie in the same room and keeping the audience enthralled is no easy feat and I think Quentin Tarantino did a great job.

The movie was long yes but it built character back story and relationships I think3 hours was perfect. Plus a 12 minute intermission was great to throw in so nothing is missed.

I agree with everything you said. I didn't feel it was too long at all, it felt just right for the story.
I really wasn't expecting the whole thing to take place in like.... only 2 different places.
But it really did build a great story, some funny ass parts, some crazy suspenseful "oh shit" moments, great characters.. it was pretty damn well done.

I just finished it. Was alright I guess. For just wanting to kill time and being bored it did it's job. It's a good example of one of the many movies coming out these days that I'd be pissed if I actually paid to go see though. I could've dealt with a little less back story and shorter run time though. There were a lot of parts that just seemed to drag on and were unnecessarily long.

at first i thought sure it could happen, but then my gf told me it seemed very made up because he knew that would be the best way to get under his skin.

guys a huge racist and told them he was there to bury his son, giving warren the perfect chance to fuck with him.

i watched hateful 8 and revanent  with a day or so between and hateful 8 was much better imo.

revenant was boring and slow with not much going on where hateful 8 had many things going on at once.


Yah I watched both, loved the hateful eight, but the revenant was a little too snuffy for my tastes, just watching somebody in so much physical agony for hours was like watching The Passions of Christ or something.... If Leo finally wins an Oscar for this I'll be disappointed because he's done so much better work.

I think in the same way people thought sound was going to ruin movies back when silent film was still going, I think Tarantinos attitude toward actual film is similar. He's a luddite in the terms that tradition for him usurps everything. However I don't think film "looks" better than digitial, and I don't think 24 FPS is some magical number as opposed to 60fps, both look equally good.

I think Tarantino is pretty brilliant, although overrated. I was watching a documentary about editing the other day, and he was praising all these films that had revolutionary editing because of all the risks, I.E. non-traditional methodology yet Tarantino himself is guilty of being one of the champions of film tradition, regurgitating 70's motifs and essentially being a write of 6 action revenge films. Tarantino is in his comfort zone, which is ultra high quality compared 90% of other directors, but his comfort zone is starting to make me feel uncomfortable.

In this movie I guess theres a scene where one of the actors breaks a guitar and he just thought it was a prop. But in actual reality, it was an antique and a guitar from the 1870s and one of the last of its kind. it was considered "priceless"

Recently seen Hateful 8 and also Inglorious Basterds (on Netflix).

Inglorious Basterds was about 2-3X better imo.

Hateful 8 was relatively boring up until the last 45 minutes to an hour. Good picture though...

The fucking idiots who left that guitar on set for the scene where they break a guitar should be fired and put on trial with a death by stoning verdict.

Movie was great though.

good flick, Tarantino is awesome overall imo, love him or hate him, you see him

i also thought the part where Chester swallowed a big black dingus, was epic, there are many dark moments in this movie that strike a certain tone with people
