That being said,

I feel like acid trips are predetermined simulations or journeys meant to bring one joy and be the "perfect trip" and bad trips are a result of noticing the... mechanical nature of it?  The synchronicity is way too strong to make me believe otherwise.

Have y'all seen Donnie Darko?  That white light that bursts from his chest and kind of guides his direction?  Yeah, thats kind of what I mean by acid trips being a simulation.  They use the people and places around you and guide you in the same way that orb does, hoping you'll have a good time and reaffirm your faith in life.

maybe not tho.  who knows. 

I just like to dance and drink and not worry about these things anymore.

You can't.  The simulation, if it exists, will prevent that.  I believe drugs bring us closer understanding though.

Yes. Since ancient times the seers have said the apparent reality is maya, samsara- illusion.

Modem science is increasingly supporting this idea.

Things are not what they appear.

Reality is some kind of illusion, simulation, Matrix or dream.

Like I thought, a good number of people here believe this for their personal definition of the word "simulation".

Interestingly enough, human assumption would assert that for there to be a simulation their must be some medium that it is simulated on, in, or through.

Could such a medium possibly exist?
Perhaps the very idea of a simulation is all that is and all that will be.

Idk man, if we loved in the matrix, like an actual hologram then we really wouldn't be real then would we? The creator of the simulation yes but not us. So if we are not real why can I feel myself rack myself in the nuts. y

I think perhaps our brains are not properly capable of considering the possibility of a tertiary option outside of "something" and "nothing". That elusive third state perhaps answers the question of the "first actor" or first object-of-being's creator.

Must it be possible that something can be created without a creator? Otherwise how would the creator, which is in itself "something" exist to begin with?

The possible answer to this is that there was no need for original action/creation because "something", at the highest echealon of structure has always existed and was never originally spawned.

Eventually humans will be able to create their own simulation and create another reality with advanced technology.

Most likely it has already occurred in this universe by highly intelligent life a millions times over, it's crazy.

Its all information either way.  The perceived world is already understood to be a construct of gathered information.  A simulation necessarily simulates something - that is, its a simplified model of a different system.  A novel system of information being computed alone is not sufficient to being a simulation.  If the information being computed does not model a different system its only your personal choice and aesthetic sense that determines how you characterize the universe of information and perception.

No way to know for sure. As crazy as it sounds, it is a possibility. How can you prove anything is real and not just elaborate programming? How do you know your thoughts are truly your own? For a long time, the fact that we can question our reality has stood as evidence of reality being what we think it is. With the advancement of technology and more specifically, AI, we're fading back into the shadow of not really knowing. Every day we get closer to creating AI that could fool people into believing it is actually human, if we can do it, that means it's possible for some even more advanced race to have already done it better.

For myself.....A common theme with LSD in particular is that it usually makes me ponder about, and tends makes it feel as if all of "this" is a "simulation" of sorts....

.....Not necessarily a "pre-determined" and "ridged" simulation where there's no free will and where everything that's going to happen was set in stone in the beginning....but rather a program/simulation/creation that does have some sort of ultimate end goal, but immense novelty unfolds on the way to that end goal as a result of consciousness & free will...and the ultimate end goal possibly being something like the creation figuring out how to create another creation similar to itself....Or perhaps the simulation/creation is meant purely for infinite novelty to unfold, and there is no ultimate end goal of the entire creation.

I have a lot of thoughts and stuff I want to say about this topic/idea, but way too stoned at the moment to get my thoughts in order....Here's copy/paste ramble of mine from an old post that sorta relates to your comment.



"One of those ideas of mine is that this situation we finds ourselves in might just be a simulation of sorts.....A simulation in which we/consciousness/the stimulation itself will never be able to pry "itself" out of or back into the "nothing" it came from. I think consciousness will eventually find a way to create a new simulation/creation that it can inject or mesh itself into, or somehow observe/experience the creation in it's entirety from every possible conscious point of view....and it/consciousness will use that new simulation/reality to learn and create more novelty and do things we can't even begin to think of or comprehend in any sort of way, and so on, and so on (if that makes sense).


and a random thought...and if it hasn't happened already this might show my naive understanding of these sorts of things :smirk:....but in such a construct, there wouldn't need to be anything for space to be expanding into. (In regards to people always being like, "well if they say space is expanding, what's it expanding into?" ).




...dunno if I'm on topic still, or if any of this is making any sense at all at this point :lol:,  sorry.....but I'm leavin' it :stoner:

Not a simulation in the sense that aliens set up a computer with us in it, but that our dimension is a naturally occurring  holographic universe.

All things are comprised of many "reflections" of one thing, a black hole.

This is what I think. Everything that goes on in the media is only done to see how we react to it. They did this with ebola, they're doing it with ISIS. Most of the people in the media are paid actors and actresses. The shooting just recently in california, those were actors.
