Are we living in a simulation?
    #22639501 -

I'm not going to define simulation, I'll let you do that.
Just curious to see what y'all think.
Is this life a simulation?
You may choose only one

The answer is yes and no.
Yes we are in a simulation.
No we are not technically living in the simulation.

Simulation as certain aspects of the system we believe in and a part of is artificial BS to keep us in check. Yes.

No we do not live in the matrix....

If we do exist in a simulation, then we cannot by definition exist outside of it. Therefore, the simulation we may or may not exist in is from our perspective, as real as it gets.

Why can't we exist in 2 places at once?

That's a great question.
I wouldn't assert that we can't.
So in a sense, I'm a firm believer in simulation theory.
I'm just not sure whether or not it's metaphysical (something beyond technology) or technology.
Maybe they are one in the same?

Also, if we're in a simulation, how many simulations deep is our simulation?

My theory is that it's real and fucked up, mainly because no one knows what the fuck they're doing so everyone is just winging it. Silly, silly hyoo-mons.

yes. Our brain recieves, interprets and selectively filters information and it shapes and forms our entire reality. That alone makes it a simulation. I could get super metaphysical with this topic but I'm too lazy.

So how come I can dream and perceive a different reality but still understand it's a dream and not reality?
How come I can't experience the simulation as reality but understand there's a real real reality more real than this one.

Is that cuz when I dream I exist in two places at once where as in the simulation I exist only once?

Either way, we're not supposed to know it if we are. That kind of knowledge would be disastrous and therefore it's not written into our original code. It would limit us more than we know. Although I do believe that we 'are' in one, I believe the only way that information could be useful is when it's a non-invested 'half-knowledge' of sorts. Conceptual understanding and not getting any closer to it than that. Either way you have to live in the world you create for yourself the best you can. The idea is to blow the hinges off the gates and be consistently living in whatever fabrication of your own in your mind all the time. But of course, also being able to handle the practical affairs of life. I think that life is infinite and always recycling all its information and that we ourselves respawn infinitely after reaching the various intensity points that spring outwardly from each new big bang we experience. Knowing the secrets of life can be very limiting however so at best, put your faith in your ability to influence destiny if you're starting to think we have no control over our own lives and it's all preprogrammed simulations, or even if it's randomized it seems that it would be out of our control. For the most part though we understand the laws of physics and our natural world; the rules of life, and can bend them more easily to our will once we understand how to bend the world (when we bend our perceptions). Kind of like waking up in the matrix once you see the patterns breathing behind every material object, you see the code running and flowing with it's patterned buoyancy underneath everything you were once ignorant to. That's what waking up is to me. I used to think that the revelation meant everything was out of our control but it was in a sense waking me up to the truth that everything in the world is meant for us to play with and interact on ever deeper levels, or however deeply you like. The only thing is that this might not all be original if we're recycling endlessly, but it also would be a fresh breath of air as we would have regained consciousness for that brief period of time each round of infinity.

--------------------

1. Sentient beings are numberless. We vow to save them all.
2. Delusions are endless. We vow to cut through them all.
3. The teachings are infinite. We vow to learn them all.
4. The Buddha Way is inconceivable. We vow to attain it.

This bolded part is so important.  Do not push the limits of human understanding in this area.

I figure if we are, and the simulation is so convincing that we have no practical way of knowing, then it really doesn't end up mattering too much. It's just another one of innumerable possible hidden realities that we have no way of detecting or verifying.

I don't think we will ever prove it, that would contradict the fact that we were the simulation.

I think it's evident through trends, particularly in computing and neuroscience

What happens to the simulation if we do prove its a simulation? Then can we copy ourself and send it to exist somewhere else simultaneously?
Could we invent teleporting then?
