10gal monotub 2 pins.....*update* BIG ONE
    #8660495 -

I have a 10gal monotub I was told by some members here that it was ready to begin fruiting after they saw the pics...... It wasn't ready, it is producing only 3 mushrooms, they seem to be developing quite well, but 3 mushrooms on 4in of substrate, LOL...... I had it colonizing for 13 days before before I began fruiting. It was 7 1/2 pt cakes to 3/4 brick of coir and some coffee. I know now that it was to wet but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they were able to re-colonize after their 1st flush? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could probably put it back at into incubation. I would try using hyphaes pinning strategy. It is kind of like incubating, and boosts the ammount of pins and the time it takes them to pin.

Yeh, I was gonna dunk it then put back into incubation for about a week then fruit again. If entering it back into incubation work for a cased substrate then why can't it work for an uncased substrate? I hope I'm doing all correctly, just wanted to here from a few people that have had problems with fruiting to early cause their substrate was to wet and what they did to rectify the situation.

You can put it back. I've seen people do it, however, I have never done it myself. It will work though. I can't remember how much it helped.

Would I put it back now or wait till after the 1st pitiful flush? That's pretty much what I'm wondering..... Is if I should pick off the fruits that are there now and incubate or wait till they're done growing then put back to incubate.

How wet was it? I am a little concerned as I spawned to bulk today and the substrate when at "field capacity" is quite a bit wetter than my WBS jars were! It just seems wetter "in real life" to me. Makes me nervous...

If it's already fruiting I doubt your going to have much luck "re-colonizing".  How much of the substrate is colonized?

If you believe your substrate was too wet and caused your colonization problem why dunk it and add more water?  If the substrate appears fully colonized then water content is not the issue, if anything it would help you get larger healthier mushrooms.  7 1/2 pint cakes fully colonized would produce plenty of mushrooms by themselves.  There must be something else at issue hear what are you using for lighting?  How often are you fanning for air exchange?  Whats the temp?

I guess go ahead and let the first flush finish. At least let them mature, and then you could use hyphaes thing or just put it back.

lighting is great, rh is great as I have switched to using wax paper for the rh to see if anymore mushies come up. Temp is perfect. I wanna dunk after 1st flush to get it to field capacity again to re-colonize, I'
ll feel the sub to see how wet it is 1st to see if the dunk is even necessary. I know the problem is it being to wet. I was just hoping to hear from someone that has dealt with this problem .....

If you feel its too wet try to add some sterile vermiculite to the top. It will absorb moisture, but again I have never really had this problem. I wouldn't dunk and then recolonize. I would colonize and then dunk. If you dunked it before all of the casing that isn't colonize will become real soggy.

Well, this thing DEFINITELY wasn't colonized all the way. I picked off the 1st monster that grew and the substrate underneath was still totally brown. But....... The first weigh in was 109g with his partner. There is a few big ones coming off of this, but nothing near what it would be if it was completely colonized.
