dunking with pins
    #1067332 - 11/19/02 09:07 PM (15 years, 9 days ago)

jars are nearing 100%. Originally planned to expose to light for 5 days after on hundred percent to initiate pins. Would this interfere with dunking?

do a 12 hour dunk first before initiating the pinning cycle, do not dunk cakes with pins on them.

so don't reveal the jars to light? Heard that allowing primodia to develop in jar will better chances of better growth and yield?

so is it better to encourage primodia growth by introducing light or not?

I dont think dunking with pins is a problem, the only problem is that you have to be very carefull to not brake any of them while handling.
I havent noticed any significant difference in letting them pin in vitro before birth, than letting them pin in the terrarium.I know PF says the opposite in his tek.Any other opinions?

i believe it best just to dunk, then put the light on it afterward, after all if your refering to putting light on it while in the incubation stage, it really would make no difference if you birthed it and put light to it, so long as it is completely colonized...

Under the "Dunk Tek" in the faq:"One can even dunk cakes/casing that already have small pins safely."
