I hope that one day I'll know enough about wine to be able to kick it with some nasty cheese I don't even like and tell everyone with absolute certainty that that "was a good year" while turning up my nose at craft beer.

Wine is disgusting. Pretty much all of it. I've had cheap shit and I've had good shit. If drinking that shit is what it takes to come across as refined, I'll stay unrefined.

As for the OP, I don't drink craft beer to look cool and I don't pretend to know what I don't. I drink the shit at home, so I'm not even really "seen" drinking it. I just like the taste of it. I really only learned about it a couple of years ago. I honestly had no idea how different and delicious IPAs and Craft Beers could be, I didn't have friends to shove it in my face and didn't go out. I was buying beer one day and spotted a brand I'd never heard of.. Dogfish head. I decided to try it since it was "new". Since then I've basically never bought the same thing twice and always look for one I haven't tried yet.

I've had Bud on the boat to Newcastle once, but it was really very average, and also surprisingly weak in alcohol.

Just for shits and giggles you should try bud light. It's like the least satisfying beer out there, it pretty much fails in every single thing you want out of a beer. Weak watered down bullshit. Everyone and their goddamn mother drinks that shit in Texas though.

Even Budweiser is pretty unsatisfactory and/or gross. I drink it all the time because it's cheap, but I really don't like anything about it. It's just the least objectionable option (IMO) in that price range.

They don't sell Bud here either, I was "lucky" to catch it on the boat that one time.

For cheap beer, I go for Schültenbrau, an evil German brew that tastes like battery acid, but at least you feel statisfied drinking it, and it can punch your lights out, no problem.

Those cheap American beers are all low on alcohol. I wouldn't stand for it, personally.

Canada doesn't get craft beer like the US does. Comparitively it's a relatively small market that's not as easy to get in to comercially or as a buyer.

Therefore as a Canadian any opinion formed of craft beer is pretty worthless to an American, unless you live in some pretty particular areas of the country.

Personally I've only tried one craft beer I liked and it just tasted like a more bitter Rickard's red. So I'd rather just have Rickard's red.
