cultivating outside?

This coming summer I plan on TRYING to grow mushrooms outside. I am going to be purchasing the golden teacher strain (syringes) from sporebank. Okay now im totally new to this, but i've been reading all kinds of teks and everything. My question is what would be the best way to go about creating an outdoor substrate? the brown flour/ verm. tek in a shallow trench somewhere? or natural stuff like horse crap and such? I plan on digging a 4-5 inch deep trench filling the bottom with substrate, covering it with hay and leaves until pins come up and then uncovering it to partial light..help me here..thanks

First of all this site is chock full of Teks for outdoor grows.

The basic idea is you dig a big ass hole, and throw some "spawn" into the bottom, cover that with straw, cover that with poo, and do another double layer (this isn't exact, make sure to look up and read the Teks closely before you do anything)


Also if your growing outdoors, grow some Cyan, or azure. There are some great strains, and breeds that only grow outside. Go for broke and attempt one of those.

jus curious, i know cyan and azure are much better outdoors but has anyone grown a cube strain outdoors?

yeah i did and am right now, i live in fl so the temps are about 60-75F now, all i did was break up some casings and dig a hole coat the bottom with coir (the ground here is all sand mostly) then the broke up casing and put a thin layer of coir ontop, I was watering them for the first few days then just forgot about it and like a month later there was some big shrooms growing and surprised me since i neglected the fuck out of it, the coir was bone dry and they still fruited.
